We report a 48-year follow-up of a case of recurrent pigmented villonodular synovitis of the knee. Subcutaneous metastasis to the contralateral thigh was an unusual finding. Histology demonstrated fibroblastic and histiocytic proliferation, as well as increased mitotic activity in recurrent lesions. Cytogenetic analyses demonstrated monoclonality and chromosomal abnormalities. Our findings support a neoplastic origin of this lesion.

RSU 1069 is a leading compound in the class of mixed-function hypoxic cell sensitizers. Possessing an alkylating aziridine function as well as a nitro group, it represents an important prototype molecule for new sensitizer development. Using a novel HPLC assay for RSU 1069 and its metabolites with a cyanopropyl column, we studied the detailed pharmacokinetics and metabolism of this drug in mice. The ultrastructure of a series of primary and metastatic smooth muscle tumors is reviewed. Myofilaments and other smooth muscle features were present in all primary leiomyosarcomas of the soft tissues and uterus. DNAs from 19 cases of avian leukosis virus-induced osteopetrosis have been analyzed for viral sequences. Among these were instances of rapid, intermediate, and slow onset osteopetrosis. The DNAs from osteopetrotic bone contained no evidence for osteopetrosis being caused by proviral insertions into or viral transductions of a host protooncogene. Twenty-four cases of giant condyloma acuminata were found among 100 cases diagnosed as carcinoma of the penis. One of the 24 tumours showed early malignant change.
