BACKGROUND: Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) has been increasingly used for treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Existing data suggest that AHSCT might alter the natural course of multiple sclerosis (MS) and postpone or even prevent the occurrence of progressive MS.
