Assessment of Mpox knowledge and attitudes among health workers in Egypt and Arab countries based on a national survey and a meta-analysis.

Recent Mpox outbreaks in non-endemic countries have highlighted the importance of global health preparedness. Combined national survey and pooled analysis were conducted to assess the knowledge and attitudes of healthcare workers (HCWs) toward Mpox in Egypt and the Arab region. An online survey was distributed to HCWs in Egypt, and a literature search of PubMed and other sources was performed to identify relevant studies from Arab countries. Descriptive statistics were utilized for all variables, with chi-square and t-tests used for comparisons. A random-effects meta-analysis was performed, wi

OBJECTIVES: To determine behaviors, attitudes, and knowledge related to sun exposure and sun protection measures among medical students at the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; and to assess their relation to sunburn frequency. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The voluntary participants in this cross-sectional survey were fi

Supporting women with intellectual disabilities to access breast cancer screening: a healthcare professional perspective.

Cancer prevention has been identified as the most cost-effective strategy for cancer control. This should extend to all groups including women with intellectual disability, seeking to access breast cancer screening. The purpose of this study was to explore the role of healthcare professionals, such as primary healthcare staff (n= 8) and breast care staff (n= 10), on supporting women with intellectual disability to access breast screening in one region in the UK. A qualitative approach using focus groups and telephone interviews was adopted. Healthcare professionals identified that not only was

Knowledge about infertility risk factors, fertility myths and illusory benefits of healthy habits in young people.

BACKGROUND: Previous research has highlighted a lack of fertility awareness in the general population especially in relation to the optimal fertile period during the menstrual cycle, incidence of infertility and duration of the reproductive life span. The current study assessed fertility knowledge more broadly in young people and investigated three areas of knowledge, namely risk factors associated with female infertility (e.g. smoking), beliefs in false fertility myths (e.g. benefits of rural living) and beliefs in the illusory benefits of healthy habits (e.g. exercising regularly) on female

[Sun exposure and sun protection behavior and attitudes among the French population].

INTRODUCTION: The number of new skin cancers has constantly increased in France over the past two decades. The role of sun exposure can partly explain this phenomenon and justifies the development of information and prevention campaigns to change peoples' attitude towards sun bathing. To be effective, we need to know how much information and what attitudes the population currently has with regard to the sun. Although several studies in France have targeted children, little data is available regarding adults. This trial was aimed at pinpointing the knowledge, attitude and behavior of adults reg

[Behavior and attitude regarding skin cancer prevention and early detection in relation to current knowledge--studies of visitors to an industrial fair].

During the course of the 42nd International Trade Fair 1990 in Munich a total of 1245 visitors were interrogated with regard to their education in the early recognition of skin cancer, and their behaviour in respect of exposure to sunlight. The same persons were also subjected to melanoma screening, both with regard to special assessment of pigment lesions and inspection of the entire skin. The questionnaire showed that women were better informed than men. Approximately 87% of the questioned women had heard of the problems of melanoma, whereas only about 55% of the men belonged to the informed

Knowledge, attitude and practice of cervical cancer screening among women infected with HIV in Africa: Systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: To establish successful strategies and increasing the utilization of preventive services, there is a need to explore the extent to which the general female population is aware and use the service for cervical cancer-screening among women infected with HIV in Africa. Available evidences in this regard are controversial and non-conclusive on this potential issue and therefore, we estimated the pooled effect of the proportion of knowledge, attitude and practice of HIV infected African women towards cervical cancer screening to generate evidence for improved prevention strategies. Impact of the Interprofessional Collaborative Education Program (IPCEP) on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of diabetic foot care among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a narrative review.

BACKGROUND: Individuals with diabetes are at high risk of foot complications such as ulcers and amputations, leading to morbidity and economic burden. Effective foot care management reduces complications, highlighting the need for patient education and self-management practices. Interprofessional care (IPC) enhances patient care by integrating expertise from multiple disciplines. While education programs improve self-care and knowledge, their impact on self-efficacy remains unclear. Furthermore, the role of the Interprofessional Collaborative Education Program (IPCEP) in enhancing foot care pr

Informing Implementation Strategies for Pharmacogenomics in Cancer: Development of Survey Tools for Healthcare Professionals and Consumers.

Integration of clinical pharmacogenomics (PGx) within routine cancer care is limited despite frequent use of medicines impacted by PGx, evidence for the benefits of PGx, and the availability of international PGx clinical guidelines. Our study objective was to develop survey tools to assess PGx knowledge, attitudes, practices, perceptions, and education needs among (a) doctors, nurses, and pharmacists involved in cancer care (healthcare professionals, HCPs) and (b) adults who have received cancer treatment or their carers (consumers), with the view to informing implementation strategies for PGx

Beliefs, attitudes and perceptions to sun-tanning behaviour in the Norwegian population: a cross-sectional study using the health belief model.

BACKGROUND: Norway has one of the highest incidences of melanoma in the world. It has been suggested that the majority of all skin cancers could be prevented by changes related to sun-tanning behaviour. This study explores the sun-tanning behaviour of the Norwegian population using a modified Health Belief Model (HBM). Increased knowledge about beliefs, attitudes and sun-tanning behaviour can provide information which may be useful for future sun protection interventions. METHODS: In 2017, 1004 members of the Norwegian population completed cross-sectional online surveys. People who seek the s

Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a group of inflammatory disorders, including axial SpA (axSpA), characterized by inflammation in the spine and sacroiliac joints. Healthcare professionals have a crucial role in diagnosing and managing axSpA. Assessing their knowledge, perceptions, and practices is essential to enhance patient care. The objective of this study is to evaluate these factors by conducting an online survey. This online survey was performed using SurveyMonkey.com to assess healthcare professionals' knowledge, perceptions, and practices related to axSpA diagnosis, management, and monitorin

A systematic review of barriers and interventions to improve appropriate use of therapies for sickle cell disease.

Clinical experts have expressed concern about underutilization of sickle cell disease (SCD) therapies, including hydroxyurea, prophylactic antibiotics, iron chelation, bone marrow transplantation, pain management during vaso-occlusive crisis, and receipt of routine ambulatory health care. We synthesized studies that identified barriers to and interventions to improve appropriate use of these therapies. Of the 48 studies included in our review, 35 identified therapeutic barriers or facilitators, and 13 evaluated interventions to improve use of therapies. Consistently identified barriers to appr
