Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most common human malignancy, metastasizes in 0.0028% to 0.5% of cases, usually to the lymph nodes, lungs, bones, and skin. After metastatic spread of BCC, survival averages 1 to 2 years. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery are treatment options. We describe metastatic basal cell carcinoma to the skin presenting with unilateral upper extremity edema.

Patients with vitiligo are predisposed to solar damage, often suffering from actinic keratoses (AK) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). However, never have these patients been noted to have an increased risk for basal cell carcinoma (BCC). In fact, no case reports of these 2 diseases occurring together exist in the literature. Here, the authors report a case of basal cell carcinoma arising in a patient with vitiligo. This rare occurrence gives question to the nature of these tumors and their pathogenesis.

Ovarian fibroma rarely occurs in prepubertal girls. We report an ovarian fibroma in a 7-month-old female infant presenting as a right abdominal mass. The tumour was composed of oval-to-spindle cells forming interlacing fascicles and intermingling with collagen fibres. Basal cell carcinomas (BCC) of the foot are rare. A review of the English literature found only 23 cases of BCC reported in the foot, none of which involved the nail unit. The nail unit, which is composed of the nail bed and nail-folds, is an exceedingly atypical site for basal cell carcinomas. A case of BCC of the proximal nail fold of the hallux which was treated with Mohs Micrographic Surgery (MMS) is presented.

We report an 82-year-old Japanese woman with basal cell carcinoma of the left nipple and areola extending into the lactiferous duct. The patient developed a small papular lesion of the left areola about 1 year before admission. The lesion, which had slowly progressed to involve the nipple, had become symptomatic showing weeping and bleeding. Mammography revealed microcalcification in the nipple. Lichen simplex chronicus is a common dermatosis that rarely affects the eyelids. We report the clinical and pathologic features in the case of a middle-aged man who had lichen simplex chronicus of both lower eyelids. The clinical features suggested the presence of basal cell carcinoma.

We report a patient with naevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) who developed cutaneous cysts on her digits. Histological examination of one of the cysts showed a festooned lining epithelium maturing without a granular cell layer, similar to that of the jaw keratocyst characteristic of this syndrome. This type of cutaneous keratocyst has been reported only once previously. in two patients with NBCCS.

Benign tumors and "dark lesions" accounted for 22% of vulvar disease seen in the Vulvar Clinic at the Milwaukee County Medical Complex over an 8-year period. A large percentage of the skin tumors that dermatologic surgeons treat are located on the nose. Of these, a significant percentage are located on the nasal tip. The nasal tip is notoriously difficult to reconstruct and we present a bilateral rotation flap that may be useful in some instances for reconstruction of this area.

Three sisters with a rare complementation group of classical xeroderma pigmentosum (XP-E) are presented. The patients developed sun-sensitivity and dyspigmentation between the ages of 6 and 9 years and UV-induced skin tumors between 16 and 20. Reconstruction of the upper lip resulting in a hair-bearing area and a non-hair-bearing lining is described in two cases of full-thickness lip defects. A unipedicled neck flap was used in one case and a bipedicled neck flap in the other, both comprised of hair-bearing and adjacent non-hair-bearing areas. The neck flap has the advantages of providing the two layers of the lip, and the reconstructed lip is not too thick and is mobile and pliable, and the hair resembles lip hair in color, density, and quality. The multiple operative procedures can be performed under local anesthetic.

An 11-year-old boy with multiple dentigerous cysts in the maxilla and mandible is described. Other findings seen in the face, plantar skin, skeletal system and oral cavity indicated the lesions to be due to the basal cell nevus syndrome.
