Remote interpretation during in-person medical encounters: Perspectives from professional Spanish-language interpreters.

OBJECTIVES: Professional interpreters are critical for effective communication between providers and non-English-preferring patients, 62% of which are Spanish-preferring in the US. Yet research-to-date has not typically included interpreters' experiences. We examine perspectives of national sample of professional Spanish-language medical interpreters providing remote interpretation during in-person medical encounters. METHODS: We partnered with a national interpretation services company serving thousands of inpatient and outpatient healthcare organizations across the country. We recruited pro

Relatives' Needs, Anxiety, and Expectations During the Intraoperative Waiting Period: A Cross-Sectional Survey in a Tertiary Referral Hospital in Morocco.

BACKGROUND: Family-centered care is increasingly recognized as a core component of peri-anesthesia practice. However, relatives' experiences during the intraoperative waiting period remain insufficiently documented, particularly in middle-income countries. Limited communication during surgery may be associated with heightened anxiety and dissatisfaction among family members, even in technically well-resourced hospitals. OBJECTIVE: The primary objective was to assess relatives' anxiety levels and unmet needs during the intraoperative waiting period. Secondary objectives were to describe peri-a

Uncertainty Meets Disordered Eating and Body Image: A Transdiagnostic Network Study Across Depressive, Anxiety and Anorexia Nervosa Symptoms Including a Control Group.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Intolerance of uncertainty (IU) is a well-established transdiagnostic process in anxiety (ANX) and major depressive disorder (MDD), and has been increasingly implicated in anorexia nervosa (AN). However, most previous research including patients with AN has relied on total or subscale scores from eating disorder measures, which obscures how specific eating attitudes and body dissatisfaction symptoms relate to distinct facets of IU. The primary objective of the present study was to characterize item-level networks linking eating attitudes, body dissatisfaction, and IU

Incomplete Concordance Between Nominal Eosinophilic Labels and Molecular Burden in Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps.

Background/Objectives: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a heterogeneous inflammatory disease in which eosinophilic subclassification is widely used for clinical stratification. However, it remains unclear how closely nominal histologic eosinophilic labels reflect the broader molecular organization of diseased tissue. Methods: We performed an inference-based integrative analysis of public datasets spanning discovery single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), independent scRNA-seq validation, GeoMx digital spatial profiling, and bulk transcriptomic replication cohorts. A sample-

Managing HIV care in daily life: A qualitative study of ART adherence and retention barriers and facilitators among people attending two urban ART clinics in Panama.

BACKGROUND: Optimal antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence and retention in HIV care are important for viral suppression among people living with HIV (PLHIV). Although ART is free in Panamanian public clinics, ART adherence and care continuity remain challenges. Prior studies in Panama have described quantitative correlates of adherence in urban clinics and barriers in a rural Indigenous region but less is known about how urban clinic attendees in Panama City and Colón experience adherence and retention in everyday contexts. OBJECTIVES: To describe the barriers and facilitators to ART adheren

The neuromodulation registry survey: A web-based survey to identify and describe characteristics of European medical patient registries for neuromodulation therapies in chronic pain treatment.

OBJECTIVES: This survey aims to identify and describe the characteristics of registries for neuromodulation implantations used to treat chronic pain in Europe. Neuromodulation therapies such as spinal cord stimulation (SCS) are employed to treat chronic pain through implantable medical devices. These therapies are considered effective and are part of standard care in many countries. Registries can provide valuable real-world data to complement randomized controlled clinical trials. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a web-based survey to gather information on registries monitoring neuromodul

Cross-sector collaboration to reduce health inequalities: a qualitative study of local collaboration between health care, social services, and other sectors under health system reforms in England.

BACKGROUND: Policymakers across countries promote cross-sector collaboration as a route to improving health and health equity. In England, major health system reforms in 2022 established 42 integrated care systems (ICSs)-area-based partnerships between health care, social care, public health, and other sectors-to plan and coordinate local services. ICSs cover the whole of England and have been given explicit policy objectives to reduce health inequalities, alongside other national priorities. METHODS: We used qualitative methods to understand how local health care and social services organiza

Melatonin Prescribing in Assisted Living.

OBJECTIVES: Aging is associated with sleep problems, which are common among assisted living (AL) residents. More than 40% of residents have insomnia, and almost 70% have a sleep disturbance of some kind. Melatonin to treat sleep disorders has become common among older adults, but its use in AL is unknown, which is concerning because melatonin may have side effects and interfere with other medications. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and correlates of melatonin prescribing in AL, to inform whether changes in care may be indicated. DESIGN: Cross-sectional chart abstrac

[Pre-implantation genetic testing: Comparison between cleavage stage and blastocyst biopsy].

OBJECTIVES: Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) refers to the set of techniques for testing whether embryos obtained through in vitro fertilization have genetic defect. There is a lack of global standardization regarding practices between countries or even from one center to another. In ours, biopsies are preferably performed on day 3 embryos, but also at the blastocyst stage on day 5. The blastocyst biopsy often requires systematic freezing of the embryos before obtaining the genetic results, whereas day 3 biopsy allows fresh embryo transfer of the healthy or balanced embryo after getting t
