Gendered Pathways to Missed and Zero-Dose Polio Vaccination in Children: A Narrative Review of Women's Autonomy, Household Decision-Making, Structural Barriers, and Health System Responsiveness in Afghanistan, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Sudan.

Background: Missed and zero-dose children remain major barriers to polio eradication in settings affected by insecurity, poverty, weak health systems, and social exclusion. This narrative review synthesized evidence on how gender norms and related social determinants influence childhood polio vaccination in Afghanistan, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Sudan. Afghanistan and Pakistan remain the only countries with endemic wild poliovirus transmission, while northern Nigeria, especially areas affected by insurgency, and war-affected Sudan continue to report substantial numbers of polio zero-dose and unde

"I Was Almost in Disbelief" - Qualitative Analysis of Experiences and Expectations Among Psoriasis Patients Undergoing Biologic Treatment with Secukinumab.

PURPOSE: Psoriasis is a highly debilitating chronic inflammatory disease. Increased understanding of its pathophysiology has enabled development of targeted treatments such as biologics. Several medical treatments have been shown to be influenced by patients' experiences and expectations. However, only little is known about patients' experiences with and expectations towards biologics. Our objectives were to identify patients' treatment experiences and treatment expectations and assess their trajectories over the course of treatment with the IL-17A inhibitor secukinumab. Moreover, we aimed to

Prescriber decision-making on antithrombotic therapy after endovascular intervention for peripheral artery disease: a protocol for a discrete choice experiment.

INTRODUCTION: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a major risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, despite surgical and endovascular treatments. Emerging evidence supports the use of immediate antithrombotic medications after endovascular intervention for PAD, however, there is a lack of consensus regarding choice and duration of antithrombotic therapy. Prescriber decision-making is a complex process, with prior studies demonstrating patient factors can influence variability in antithrombotic therapy for PAD. However, it remains unclear the relative contribution of these factors.

"I've just never done that:" The influence of transitional anxiety on post-incarceration reentry and reintegration experiences among veterans.

Military veterans involved in the criminal justice system are a vulnerable subpopulation that has extensive physical and behavioural health treatment needs. Like non-veteran populations, safe and stable housing, employment and social support are critical for veterans returning to society after incarceration. The challenges of social reintegration are immense, and the risk of recidivism is high. The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has developed specific programmes to assist veterans plan for and assist with reentry. While there have been successes, recidivism and early mortality are per

The Effect of High Velocity Low Amplitude Cervical Manipulations on the Musculoskeletal System: Literature Review.

In manual therapy, high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) cervical manipulation techniques are frequently used, but often the physiological and biomechanical effects that can be obtained are not completely clear. The techniques are mostly used for the treatment of biomechanical joint dysfunction, but little is yet known about the possibility of using them in order to achieve better performance on healthy subjects. The objective of the study is to describe how cervical manipulation can impact on a musculoskeletal disorder. A systematic search was carried out on the Pubmed electronic database from t

Trophic transfer of differently functionalized zinc oxide nanoparticles from crustaceans (Daphnia magna) to zebrafish (Danio rerio).

The potential uptake and trophic transfer of nanoparticles (NP) is not well understood so far and for ZnO NP the data presented in peer-reviewed literature is limited. In this paper the influence of surface functionalization on the uptake and depuration behavior of ZnO NP, ZnO-OH NP and ZnO-octyl NP in D. magna was studied. Bulk ZnO particles (≤5 μm) and ZnCl2 were used as references for uptake of particles and dissolved species of Zn, respectively. Furthermore, the trophic transfer of ZnO NP and ZnO-octyl NP from daphnids (Daphnia magna) to zebra fish (Danio rerio) was studied. For ZnO NP and

[Does smoking correlate with low back pain and the outcome of spinal surgery?].

BACKGROUND: For a long time, orthopaedic surgeons have suspected an influence of smoking on several musculoskeletal diseases. The aim of this review is to discuss the influence of smoking on low back pain (LBP) and the outcome of spinal surgery. LBP is a highly prevalent disease and plays an important economic role, as it is associated with high direct and indirect health-care costs. In order to be successful in prevention, risk factors for LBP must be identified. METHODS: A review of the literature (using PubMed with the search terms: smoking, low back pain and pathophysiology) was performed

A 2025 systematic review of teacher emotion regulation and well-being: implications for student engagement, learning outcomes, and professional development in EFL contexts.

INTRODUCTION: Teacher emotion regulation is increasingly recognized as a critical determinant of instructional quality, professional well-being, and student success, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts where linguistic challenges, sociocultural diversity, and high emotional labor intensify classroom demands. However, a comprehensive synthesis of the evidence linking these strategies to multi-level outcomes (teacher, student, and institutional) remains lacking. This systematic review synthesized findings from 165 peer-reviewed studies published between 1998 and 2025 to

Factors that influence acute malnutrition detection and treatment by community health promoters in Samburu and Turkana counties, Kenya: A mixed methods study.

Global acute malnutrition (GAM) among children <5 years contributes to mortality and is a persistent problem in the drylands of Africa, including Samburu and Turkana Counties in Kenya, due to recurring droughts and other factors. In 2023, GAM prevalence was 20.3% in Samburu and 34.8% in Turkana, far exceeding the emergency threshold of 15%. Community health promoters (CHPs) are frontline members of the community health system who work with families to detect, treat, and refer acute malnutrition cases, but little is known about factors associated with these tasks. We conducted a mixed-method st
