Physical education teachers' perceptions and experiences of inclusion in Türkiye: implications for the quality of life and social participation of students with disabilities.

BACKGROUND: Inclusive education aims to provide equitable access to quality education for all students. While its principles are widely accepted, implementing inclusive education in subjects such as physical education presents specific challenges and requires distinct teacher competencies. Because physical education promotes physical activity, social interaction, and well-being, inclusive practices in this area are essential for the quality of life and social participation of students with disabilities. This study examined the perceptions, experiences, and needs of physical education teachers

Grief experiences among LGBTQ+ populations: a scoping review.

CONTEXT: LGBTQ+ individuals face grieving processes complicated by minority stress, structural discrimination, and fears related to disclosure of their sexual orientation or gender identity, which leads to disenfranchised grief within healthcare systems that remain heteronormative. Recent literature on palliative care highlights inequities in access, a lack of recognition of chosen families, and gaps in professionals' LGBTQ+ cultural competence. OBJECTIVE: To explore research published between 2021 and 2026 on grief and bereavement-related experiences among LGBTQ+ adults in healthcare and pal

Views and reported practices of South African speech-language therapy and audiology undergraduate students on linguistic and cultural integration in training.

BACKGROUND: South Africa's speech-language therapy (SLT) and audiology professions face challenges in achieving linguistic and cultural integration (i.e., the meaningful incorporation of diverse linguistic and cultural perspectives into training and practice), a critical aspect for effectively serving the country's diverse population. Limited curriculum content on indigenous languages and cultural competence, along with low diversity of academic and clinical training staff (staff), may hinder students' preparedness for multilingual and multicultural clinical practice. This study explored under

What supports sustainable pace in the operating room? A sequential explanatory mixed-methods study using self-determination theory.

BACKGROUND: Operating-room productivity is commonly pursued through throughput metrics, yet frontline staff point to organizational and interpersonal conditions that make a working pace sustainable. How everyday practices relate to staff motivation, and thereby to dependable workflow, remains underexplored. RESEARCH QUESTION: (1) What organizational and interpersonal conditions support or thwart a sustainable work pace among perioperative nursing staff? (2) How can these conditions be understood through Self-Determination Theory (SDT)? METHODS: We used a sequential explanatory mixed-methods

Attitude changes following short-form opioid overdose video education: a pilot study.

BACKGROUND: Opioid overdose response training (OORT) and the need for its rapid expansion have become more significant as the opioid epidemic continues to be a health crisis in the USA. Limitation of funding and stigmatization often hinders expansion of OORT programs. Primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been widespread transition from in-person to virtual communication. However, OORT programs may benefit from long-term use of this modality of education if it can be as effective. OBJECTIVE: To measure the change in participant attitude after a brief, virtual OORT. METHODS: A 6.5

Education or regulation? Exploring our underlying conceptualisations of remediation for practising physicians.

CONTEXT: The remediation of practising physicians is coming to the fore in several countries in response to increasing demands for physician accountability and quality improvement initiatives in health care. However, the profession continues to grapple with the concepts and processes of remediation, particularly for physicians in practice who struggle with performance issues related to clinical competence. This suggests that current conceptualisations of remediation might be contributing to this situation. This study therefore, explored how various administration-level stakeholders conceptuali

Can learning experience in pharmacy school shape a competent leader? A cross-sectional study on leadership development, mental wellbeing, and Islamic values.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The contemporary healthcare landscape dictates that pharmacists demonstrate comprehensive leadership competencies alongside advanced clinical expertise to navigate complex patient-care environments effectively. While academic curricula and extracurricular engagements are recognized as primary mechanisms for cultivating these professional proficiencies, the psychological impact of assuming such roles-particularly the manifestation of academic burnout and stress-remains critically underexplored within the literature. This study investigates undergraduate pharmacy students

A European paramedic curriculum for geriatric emergency medicine developed via a modified Delphi technique.

BACKGROUND: Older emergency patients currently account for most European emergency medical service dispatches. Due to demographic changes and increasing comorbidities in advanced age, this number is expected to rise substantially in the coming years. Prehospital professionals require specialised training to provide high-quality care for complex, multimorbid patients. The aim of this study is to define minimum competencies for paramedic education in Europe on the management of emergencies in older adults. METHODS: A modified electronic Delphi study was performed from January 2023 to November 2

An irreplaceable safety culture.

Intensive care unit (ICU) clinicians are sources of errors and of resilience. When they learn how to juggle many competing goals, remain vigilant, and tell safety stories--all in the context of changing technologies and demand--they can create safe settings of care. Other strategies (eg, using computerized tools and implementing safety procedures) are important, but alone they are not sufficient. An ICU needs a safety culture that is rooted in a committed leadership, the acknowledgment that error is inevitable, a reporting system, and continuous learning. The all too common norm, "no harm no f

How Nursing Students Describe Educator Caring Actions in Online Classrooms.

Caring actions by educators lead to improved student outcomes and success. Despite wide use of online education, educators' caring actions in online classrooms have been minimally evaluated. It is important to understand students' perspectives of caring actions to implement actions that are relevant and wanted. This study utilized an interpretive descriptive design. Four themes emerged that fit well with the theory of human becoming: human connection, caring communication, supportive transcendence, and professional cocreation. Educators can readily deliver caring actions within online classroo

Retraining for prevention of peritonitis in peritoneal dialysis patients: A randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Peritonitis is more common in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients nonadherent to the PD exchange protocol procedures than in compliant patients. We therefore investigated whether regular testing of PD knowledge with focus on infection prophylaxis could increase the time to first peritonitis (primary outcome) and reduce the peritonitis rate in new PD patients. METHODS: This physician-initiated, open-label, parallel group trial took place at 57 centers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2015. A new role for imaging in the diagnosis of physical elder abuse: results of a qualitative study with radiologists and frontline providers.

Pediatric radiologists play a key role in the detection of child abuse through the identification of characteristic injury patterns. Emergency radiologists have the potential to play an equally important role in the detection of elder physical abuse; however, they currently play little to no part in this effort. We examine the reasons behind this limited role, and potential strategies to expand it, by interviewing attending faculty from Emergency Radiology, Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Radiology, and Pediatrics. Our interviews revealed that radiologists' contribution to elder abus
