The cation of the ionic liquid is a supramolecular structure consisting of NH+ 4 and tetraglyme, similar to the structure of NH+ 4 and crown ether, and the anion is selected as SCN-. Previous measurements of the X-ray absorption spectra of PbCl2 at the chlorine K-edge have shown significant variation between different studies. Herein, using first principles simulations of X-ray absorption spectroscopy, we show that the observed spectral variations are due to the generation of Cl2 gas and depletion of chlorine from PbCl2, consistent with what is observed during ultraviolet absorption for the same compound. OBJECTIVE: In this study, we aimed to investigate the iron absorption defects using the oral iron absorption test (OIAT) in patients with iron deficiency anemia (IDA).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty-six patients with IDA which nonresponder to oral iron treatment were included in the study. Acrodermatitis enteropathica is a rare, autosomal recessive condition which results from impaired zinc absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. We report a 16-month-old female patient with a 7-month history of periorificial and acral skin lesions. Diagnosing of Acrodermatitis enteropathica was established on the basis of the patient's history as well as clinical and laboratory findings (a lowered zinc level in the child's serum: 17.2μg/dL (N 70-160 μg/dL)). Rapid clinical improvement was observed right after launching zinc supplementation.

We report a 37-year-old patient with the history of bilateral epiphora, who was referred to our department for dacryoscintigraphy imaging. The patient had bilateral obstruction of the lacrimal apparatus at the sac-duct level on the scintigraphy images. Delayed imaging showed Tc-99m pertechnetate uptake in the thyroid due to systemic absorption of the tracer from the conjunctiva. We recommend using tracers with large particle size and lower possibility of mucosal absorption for dacryoscintigraphy in order to decrease unnecessary thyroid radiation.
