Validation of the biomarker toolkit using diagnostic colorectal cancer biomarkers - an evidence-based tool to support clinical adoption of biomarkers.

BACKGROUND: Biomarkers offer valuable insights into diseases and bodily functions, yet many fail to achieve clinical implementation. Our recent research revealed a substantial translational gap, with only 0.94% of prognostic breast cancer biomarkers and 0.14% of diagnostic colorectal cancer biomarkers reaching clinical practice. To address this challenge, we developed the Biomarker Toolkit, designed to enhance translational outcomes by identifying cancer biomarkers most likely to succeed and highlighting areas requiring further research. This study aims to validate the Toolkit using a new data

Digital inclusion, legal governance, and the adoption of smart care services by older adults in China: an evolutionary game analysis.

INTRODUCTION: The availability of digital care services does not ensure their adoption by older adults. METHODS: This study develops a tripartite evolutionary game involving government, platform enterprises, and older adults to examine how legal governance, enterprise investment, and user-side benefits jointly shape the adoption of smart care services by older adults in China. The payoff structure applies penalties and reputational losses only to passive enterprise investment and makes age-friendly design, data protection, and support measures improve the relative payoff of adoption. Official…

How Cross-Cue Inconsistency Weakens the Adoption of AI-Generated Review Summaries: The Roles of Diagnosticity, Authenticity, and Review Dispersion.

As AI-generated review summaries are increasingly embedded in e-commerce review systems, consumers are no longer exposed to a single type of user review information. Instead, they encounter multiple evaluative cues consisting of aggregated user-generated ratings (AUGR), original user reviews, and AI-generated summaries (AIGS). From the perspective of cross-cue inconsistency, this study examines the mechanism underlying consumers' adoption of AIGS in a complex evaluative environment. This study adopts a scenario-based experimental method and simulates a product review page on an e-commerce plat…

Implementation of Targeted Axillary Dissection in Clinically Node-Positive Breast Cancer: Adoption Trends and Comparative Outcomes at a Single Institution.

BACKGROUND: Historically, axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) was the standard of care for patients with node-positive breast cancer following neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST). Current evidence supports de-escalated axillary procedures, including targeted axillary dissection (TAD) after NST, which demonstrate low false-negative rates and reduced morbidity compared with ALND. This study analyzed the temporal trends in the adoption of TAD among clinically node-positive breast cancer patients at a single institution. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Our retrospective cohort study included patients diag…

Association between wildfire smoke exposure and parents' adoption of protective behaviours: Exploring the role of objective and subjective smoke exposure.

Exposure to wildfire smoke poses a significant threat, particularly to children, even at low concentrations. Although several agencies monitor and disseminate air quality data, some parents rely on sensory cues to decide on protective behaviours, such as using air purifiers. We investigated relationships between objective smoke exposure measures (from air monitoring data), parents' subjective perceptions of smoke exposure (perceived through sight or smell), and their protective behaviours during wildfire smoke events. We combined survey responses from 2086 parents in wildfire-prone regions of
