Twelve of forty patients (30%) treated for esophageal atresia at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago between June 1976 and May 1980 required a circular esophagomyotomy with or without upper pouch bougienage to achieve an anatomical repair. We aimed to explore the coping strategies utilized by Latino caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia (ADRD). We conducted 16 semi-structured interviews with Latinos family caregivers. The interviews explored the caregivers' experiences utilizing coping strategies. This paper examines the application of public health nursing education with an emphasis on the social determinants of health within a correctional facility. The innate tension between public health practice and the punitive nature of correctional confinement is discussed through the perspective of student involvement. Exemplars of unexpected contingencies endemic to this practice setting are provided as are insights gleaned from this pilot collaboration between a college of nursing and a county correctional system.

OBJECTIVE: Our aim was to determine whether maternal HIV infection in the current era is associated with an increased incidence of meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) in their infants.
METHODS: Infants born to 149 HIV-positive women at our hospital over a 5-year period were compared with infants born to HIV-negative women in a retrospective case-control study.
