PURPOSE: To analyse the distribution and types of collagen in the conjunctiva of patients with trachoma and vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC).
METHODS: Conjunctival biopsy specimens were collected from 9 patients with active trachoma, 9 patients with scarred trachoma, 6 patients with active VKC and 9 control subjects. The presence and distribution of collagen was assessed microscopically with immunohistochemical techniques and a panel of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies directed against types I, III, IV and V collagen.

Ketotifen is an orally active prophylactic agent for the management of bronchial asthma and allergic disorders.
