Muscle fiber typing and in vitro contracture tests were performed in 59 patients investigated for susceptibility to malignant hyperthermia (MH). Eighteen patients were found to be susceptible to MH. There was no difference in age or fiber type distribution between MH susceptible and non-susceptible patients. No correlation was found between age and fiber type distribution. The possibility of enflurane being an inducer of malignant hyperthermia (MH) was examined by using the contracture test in in vitro muscle from a patient with MH. An administration of 2% enflurane elicited contracture in MH muscle and an elimination of enflurane relaxed this contracture. This result, therefore, strongly suggested that enflurane is the one of the trigger-agents for MH.

In a follow-up of 490 patients with breast implants, neither the size of the prosthesis nor the nature of the surgical procedure (simple augmentation mammaplasty or after subcutaneous mastectomy) increased the incidence of capsular contracture. This study assesses the effectiveness of femoral anterior distal hemiepiphysiodesis (FADHE) to treat knee contractures.
