UNLABELLED: Traumatic tattoos can result from accidental deposition of foreign particles in the dermis. These pigmented particles become permanently lodged in the dermis after re-epithelialization of the wound and can give rise to irregular black or blue discoloration of the skin. Different methods for tattoo removal exist. The best strategy is to prevent traumatic tattooing by immediate removal of the foreign bodies before the healing process has begun. We present a fine-tuned debridement method to selectively debride the wound and preserve as much viable tissue as possible.

We describe here a new procedure designed to enable reproducible sustained erection in a canine model. In 10 dogs, an end-to-side arteriovenous fistula was created between the inferior epigastric artery and deep dorsal vein. A chronic skin tunnel was created at the penile base. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of an AIDS patient with a primary clinical presentation suggestive of bacillary angiomatosis. We also found in cutaneous lesions Mycobacterium avium complex and cytomegalovirus.

We discuss a patient with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP) and a thrombocythaemia which was diagnosed as a coincidental Essential Thrombocythaemia. We suggest that deficiencies in Smad4 expression may allow for escape thrombocythaemia under the influence of the high levels of TGF-beta found in HSP. With normal Smad4 expression TGF-beta provides inhibition of thrombocyte proliferation. While this needs further elucidation, it could lead to a new approach to classification and management of HSP.
