Presence of stem cells in the female genital tract has been reported; however stem cell status of Fallopian tube remains unexplored. In the present study, we show for the first timean existence of stem cells in a Fallopian tube. A pure population of mesenchymal like cells was obtained from the Fallopian tube samples from patients undergoing hysterectomy. The immunocytochemistry of these cells revealed the presence of classical mesenchymal stem cell markers like smooth muscle actin, vimetin, nestin, desmin, CD44, CD90 and CD117. We report a mature solid teratoma of the fallopian tube in an elderly woman. This mass was noted on CT scan and considered metastatic in nature since following a bioptical diagnosis of endometrial adenocarcinoma. Hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy and ovariectomy were performed and a second minor mature solid teratoma was discovered inside the right ovary. Neoplasms of the fallopian tube are very uncommon and this is the first Italian case to be added to about other 60 of the literature. Moreover it joins minimum teratomatous diameter with maximum recorded age.

BACKGROUND: Controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) combined with intrauterine insemination (IUI) is commonly offered to couples with subfertility that does not involve the fallopian tubes. The case of a 51-year-old woman with a primary carcinoma of the left fallopian tube is presented. Laparotomy performed for an ovarian tumour revealed that the patient had normal ovaries, but a left fallopian tube was dilated and filled with a tumour mass. Histopathological examination revealed primary adenosquamous cell carcinoma of the fallopian tube.

Primary paraovarian cancer is a rare tumor occurring in the female pelvis. Magnetic resonance imaging features of paraovarian cancer have not been previously reported. BACKGROUND: Superior vena cava syndrome is most often encountered in patients with malignancies. The diagnosis constitutes an oncologic emergency with prompt treatment indicated to manage the acute symptoms. There are few reports describing the syndrome in patients with gynecologic malignancies and central venous catheters.
