PURPOSE: Prosthetic iris devices have recently been used to improve cosmesis and reduce glare in aniridia. There is currently no consensus on which prosthetic iris device or which surgical approach is preferred for managing large iris defects.
METHODS: A novel surgical approach with Gore-Tex polytetrafluoroethylene sutures was used to achieve scleral fixation of an intraocular lens and artificial iris complex in a 19-year-old Caucasian female patient with aniridia, nystagmus, cataracts, and ectopia lentis.

Necrotising fasciitis is a severe form of soft tissue infection. Herein, we present an unreported complication of the transvaginal repair of a pelvic organ prolapse (POP) with trocar-guided polypropylene mesh and a concomitant hysterectomy. A 61-year-old Caucasian female who had been using an intrauterine device (IUD) for 30 years presented with a stage 3 pelvic organ prolapse. AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of modified mesh rectopexy for complete rectal prolapse.
SUBJECT AND METHODS: In a prospective study between 1989-1998, 47 patients (25 males and 22 females) underwent modified mesh rectopexy using a "Cross-shaped" knitted monofilament polypropylene. They were followed up for a period of four years postoperatively.

During a 14 year period, 22 patients with stricture, acute laryngeal injury, and cancer were treated. Nine patients had postintubation tracheal stenosis and underwent tracheal resection with good to excellent results. Six patients had strictures after tracheostomy.
