Association Between Risk Factors and Colorectal Cancer Incidence: A Predictive Analytics Framework.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancer types and its increased incidence is related to a number of modifiable risk factors. There is a need for data-driven approaches to support public health policy making for CRC prevention. This paper presents a predictive analytics framework supporting country-level analysis of CRC incidence and risk factors through policy scenarios by linking population-level risk factor exposure to CRC incidence projections across multiple time horizons. The framework integrates Linear Mixed Effects Models, Generalized Additive Models and XGBoost to capt

Using machine learning to predict pretreatment drinking changes.

BACKGROUND: A body of research suggests that many participants in alcohol use treatment research begin making changes to their drinking behavior prior to beginning treatment. Although several studies have examined factors associated with such change, results have been mixed or yielded small effects. Both theoretical and methodological limitations have hindered efforts to understand such change, highlighting the need for novel analytic approaches. This study aimed to examine how traditional modeling methods (linear and logistic regression) and machine learning (recursive partitioning, random fo

Explainable diabetes prediction using a stacked ensemble framework.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that significantly increases the risk of serious complications such as cardiovascular disorders and kidney failure. Early detection through predictive modeling can lead to timely interventions and significantly improve patient health outcomes. Several machine learning approaches have been proposed for predicting diabetes, but the main focus has been on improving prediction accuracy, while interpretability has received limited attention. To address this gap, we present a robust and explainable machine learning framework based on a stacked ensemble model that uses R

Optimized ensemble learning framework for neonatal asphyxia prediction using perinatal clinical features.

BACKGROUND: Neonatal asphyxia is a life-threatening perinatal condition associated with neonatal mortality and long-term neurological impairment. Therefore, early identification of high-risk newborns is essential for timely clinical intervention; however, accurate prediction of neonatal asphyxia remains a key challenge due to heterogeneous maternal and perinatal risk factors, for example, overlapping clinical patterns, and class imbalance in medical datasets. Thus, to solve this issue, this research proposes an imbalance-sensitive machine-learning framework for the prediction of neonatal asphy
