[Pharmacological treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome].

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a potentially life-threatening condition that is increasingly prevalent in developed countries. OSAS treatment involves multiple components, including general lifestyle modifications and specific interventions such as intraoral fixation devices and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). Surgical treatments, including correction of nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal structures, orthognathic operations, and bariatric surgery, are used under strict indications. Until recently, pharmacological management was limited to nasal decongestants for rhinitis

Nanocarriers for Psoriasis Treatment: Insights from a Clinical Trial Registered on the Global Clinical Trials Registry Platform.

Psoriasis is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin disease. Topical treatments are the primary choice for up to 80% of psoriasis patients; however, their effectiveness is often limited by poor penetration into the skin. Nanocarriers represent a promising advancement in drug delivery systems by enhancing bioavailability and tissue penetration and reducing the frequency of dosing. This study conducted a narrative review and analyzed the characteristics of clinical trials registered on ClinicalTrials.gov and the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) that investigated the use of

Nesting a Target Study within a Target Trial: A Framework for Evaluating Intervention Effects on Disparities.

We present a novel framework (TS+TT) to nest a target study (TS) within a target trial (TT) for evaluating the effects of interventions on disparities. The TS component grounds the measurement of disparity in ethical assumptions, based on the concept of allowability, and anchors it to an explicit population within calendar time. It specifies an enrollment plan of stratified sampling of eligible persons to yield a sample where social groups are distributionally similar on covariates deemed allowable for measuring disparity. Within this enrolled sample, the TT component specifies randomization o

Effects of virtual reality mindfulness interventions on depression and anxiety: a meta-analysis.

Background: Depression and anxiety are common mental health problems that frequently co-occur with trauma-related disorders and often develop following traumatic or stressful events, substantially impairing quality of life. Mindfulness-based interventions have been shown to reduce these symptoms; however, their widespread implementation is often limited by poor accessibility and low adherence. Virtual reality (VR) may enhance mindfulness delivery through immersive experiences, but the overall efficacy of VR-based mindfulness interventions and the factors influencing their effectiveness remain

Pharmacological treatments for Friedreich ataxia.

RATIONALE: Friedreich ataxia (FRDA) is a rare inherited autosomal recessive neurological disorder, characterised initially by unsteadiness in standing and walking, and slowly progressing to wheelchair dependency, usually in the late teens or early twenties. Scoliosis, pes cavus and cardiomyopathy are often present at diagnosis. As the disease progresses, individuals usually develop slurred speech, auditory impairment (especially in a noisy environment), urinary tract morbidity, diabetes, anxiety, depression, muscle spasticity and visual disturbances. Cardiac abnormalities cause premature death
