Postoperative fistulas are among the most difficult and distressing of surgical problems. We describe a case of a discharging fistula that developed after low anterior resection and was successfully treated with a new biologic adhesive agent, gelatin-resorcin-formal glue. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of a postoperative fistula after colorectal surgery successfully treated with gelatin-resorcin-formal glue. In conclusion, gelatin-resorcin-formal glue is useful for uncontrollable postoperative fistula.

The case was a 49-year-old woman. In 1995, she underwent Hartmann's operation for sigmoid colon carcinoma. Histological stage was IV [se, n4(+), P0, H0, M(-)]. Adjuvant chemotherapy was performed by MMC and 5'-DFUR. After 7 years from the surgery, she had a lumbar pain. A case of elastofibroma occurring in the sigmoid colon of a 69 year-old woman is reported. The woman presented for survey of her gastrointestinal tract. Colonoscopy disclosed two polyps in the sigmoid colon, one of which was clinically considered to be recurrent adenoma. Being confronting with two apparently similar cases of entero-vesical fistulas, but complete different concerning the etiopathogeny, surgical management and prognosis, we believe that both communities--urologists and general surgeons--must know how to manage such cases. The tumors involving two or many systems or organs make the surgeon's decision be extremely difficult if not familiarized with both pathologies. Two cases of liver metastasis from colon cancer were treated by percutaneous ethanol (PEI) and acetic acid (PAI) injection for the recurrent lesion after surgery. Case 1 was a 60-year-old female who received sigmoidectomy with partial hepatectomy, and intraarterial 5-FU infusion was done after surgery. One year later, recurrence of liver tumor was detected, and PEI and PAI were performed for the metastatic lesions of the liver. This investigation introduces percutaneous decompression and irrigation of the obstructed large bowel as a simple and safe procedure that can be undertaken for the emergency situation. This procedure was performed in 28 patients who presented with colonic obstruction caused by sigmoidal or rectosigmoidal carcinoma without any complications. Severe damage to the pelvic viscera is a complication of irradiation therapy that, unfortunately, cannot always be avoided. A study of causes of error on barium enema examinations is reported. There were 144 patients with 189 inflammatory and neoplastic lesions of the large bowel examined endoscopically and with a preceding barium enema. Twelve lesions were not reported radiologically, a false negative error rate of 6.3%. Radiographic errors included 11 polyps and 1 sigmoid carcinoma. The results of treatment in 230 patients with malignant transformation of polyps and villous tumors, carcinoid and cancer of the rectum and sigmoid are reported. OBJECTIVE: Our goal was to compare the relative values of MRI vs. CT in diagnosing recurrent rectosigmoid cancer.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of 18 patients who had surgical resection of primary rectosigmoid carcinoma and suspected recurrence. They were studied with CT and MR and followed for up to 4 years.

INTRODUCTION: Ovarian cystadenofibromas (CAF) are epithelial tumors, which are fairly rare, mainly benign and asymptomatic. The Klippel-Feil syndrome (KFS) is a rare congenital anomaly which combines osseous and visceral development disorders. While bowel obstruction is a common complication in advanced ovarian cancer this condition is rarely described in cystic lesions such as CAF.
