PURPOSE: Traditional methods for estimating drug-polymer solubility either require fast dissolution in the polymeric matrix, rapid re-crystallization kinetics from supersaturated states or derive from regular solution theories. Giardia lamblia is a zoonotic flagellate protozoan in the intestine of human and many mammals including dogs. Homozygosity for the α-thalassaemia Southeast Asian (α-SEA) and Filipino β°-thalassaemia (β-FIL) deletions can cause serious complications leading to foetal death or life-long blood transfusions. A rapid and accurate molecular detection assay is essential in populations where the deletions are common. Definitive identification of Brucella species remains a challenge due to the high degree of genetic homology shared within the genus. We report the development of a molecular technique which utilizes real-time PCR followed by high-resolution melt (HRM) curve analysis to reliably type members of this genus. This study investigates the effects of Cr content on the microstructure, room-temperature and 600 °C mechanical properties and high-temperature oxidation behavior of TiVNbTaCrx (x = 0, 0.25, and 0.5). With the motivation of discovering high-temperature superconductors, evolutionary algorithm USPEX is employed to search for all stable compounds in the Sn-H system. In addition to the traditional SnH4, new hydrides SnH8, SnH12 and SnH14 are found to be thermodynamically stable at high pressure. A novel formate [(CH3)2NH2][Na0.5Cr0.5(HCOO)3] (DMNaCr) was prepared by a solvothermal method. This compound crystallizes in the perovskite-type metal formate framework (space group R3[combining macron]) with disordered dimethylammonium (DMA(+)) cations. We describe a scheme for tagging an alanine-based peptide with a Cu(II) and a nitroxide to measure unfolding transitions. The enhancement in longitudinal relaxation rate of the nitroxide due to the presence of Cu(II) was measured at physiological temperatures by pulsed electron spin resonance (ESR).
