DESIGN: Merging of data from three prospective observational studies. AIMS: Sentinel lymph node (SN) biopsy has been validated in the treatment of breast carcinoma. Patients with previous excisional biopsy are regarded as ineligible for SN biopsy. We evaluated the results of SN biopsy for this group of patients based on confirmatory axillary lymph node dissection.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: From April 1997 all 88 patients with stage T(1-3) breast cancer who had previously undergone diagnostic excisional biopsy followed by complete axillary lymph node dissection, were enrolled into a prospective study to determine the validity of the sentinel node procedure.

From Jan 1, 1965 to Nov 1, 1980, 155 infants with Hirschsprung's disease have been treated. All had confirmed aganglionosis at multiple rectal biopsies. Nasopharyngeal swabs are critical to the diagnosis of respiratory infections including coronavirus disease 2019, but collection techniques vary. We compared 2 recommended nasopharyngeal swab collection techniques in adult volunteers and found that swab rotation following nasopharyngeal contact did not recover additional nucleic acid (as measured by human DNA/RNA copy number). Between 1989 and 1997, 23 children with primary obstructive megaureter underwent surgical repair, routinely using a vesico-psoas hitch ureteroneocystostomy. Ten of them had a antenatal diagnosis. Mean postoperative follow-up was 3 years. No postoperative obstruction and no vesicoureteric reflux occurred. We present 4 cases in which atraumatic reduction of an intussusception was achieved only after intraoperative intravenous administration of Glucagon. Because of this observation all our cases of the past 10 years with intussusceptions where bowel resection was necessary, were reviewed.
