The diagnosis of solid benign and malignant tumors presents a unique challenge to all noninvasive imaging modalities. Ultrasound is used in conjunction with mammography to differentiate simple cysts from solid lesions. Fertility preservation (FP) is an important aspect of the treatment of young women diagnosed with serous borderline ovarian tumors (SBOT), with fertility sparing surgery recommended when possible. The induction of preneoplastic and neoplastic lesions by the widely used antiestrogen Tamoxifen was studied in female mice. Outbred CD-1 mice were treated with Tamoxifen (1, 2, 5, 10, 25 or 50 microg/pup/day) for the first 5 days after birth. At 14-17 months, reproductive tract tissues were examined for pathological changes. BACKGROUND: To assess the safety (particularly the occurrence of malignancies) of growth hormone (GH) replacement (Omnitrope®) in adults with GH deficiency, using data from the ongoing PATRO Adults post-marketing surveillance study.
METHODS: PATRO Adults is being conducted in hospitals and specialized endocrinology clinics across Europe. All enrolled patients who receive ⩾1 dose of Omnitrope® are included in the safety population. Malignancies are listed as adverse events under the MedDRA System Organ Class 'neoplasms, benign, malignant and unspecified (including cysts and polyps)'.

BACKGROUND: In approximately 0.6-12% of patients systemic tamoxifen therapy is complicated by ocular toxicity. Classical findings include severe loss of visual acuity combined with crystalline retinal deposits in the macula and macular edema or crystalline deposits in the peripheral retina.
