BACKGROUND/AIMS: Medulloblastomas (MBs), atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumors (AT/RTs) and central nervous system primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNETs) are aggressive embryonal brain neoplasms in children with overlapping histological features but with different pathogenetic pathways. Primary vulvar and vaginal adenocarcinomas of intestinal type (VVAIts) are very rare tumors, displaying morphologic and immunohistochemical overlap with colorectal adenocarcinomas. BACKGROUND: Testicular cancer is the most common solid tumor affecting men aged 20-39 years old. About 95% of all testicular tumor is testicular germ cell tumor. Bilateral testicular tumor is a rare incident and has similar histopathology only in less than 5% of all testicular cancer patients. Besides oncological issues, bilateral testicular tumors could lead to further consequences, such as psychosocial and hormonal issues. Activation of telomerase seems to be a prerequisite for immortalization and is found in permanent cell lines and most malignant tumors. Normal somatic cells are generally telomerase negative, except for bone marrow stem cells. Weak activity is also present in peripheral blood cells. In the present study strong telomerase activity was demonstrated in vivo in normal mature cells of the immune system, as well as in malignant lymphomas. OBJECTIVE: To study the clinical features, treatment and prognosis of struma ovarii.
METHODS: From January 1990 to January 2012, a total of 68 patients were diagnosed struma ovarii at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Clinical data of these patients were studied retrospectively.
