OBJECTIVE: To study the role of interleukin(IL)18 and interferon gamma (IFN-Gamma) in the pathogenesis of condyloma acuminatum(CA).

BACKGROUND: Treatment of anogenital warts is difficult in that the disease spectrum is wide. Moreover, varying degrees of improvement are obtained.
OBJECTIVE: To study the treatment of persistent anogenital warts by pulsed dye laser.
METHODS: Pulsed dye laser was used with the following settings: spot size 7 mm, pulse duration 1500 microsec, and fluence 7.5 J/cm2. Two different wavelengths were used: 585 and 595 nm.
RESULTS: Lesions healed completely using both wavelengths after one treatment.
CONCLUSION: Pulsed dye laser has been found to be safe, effective, satisfactory, and less traumat

To determine whether men are able to self-diagnose external genital warts (EGWs), we studied data from 1115 men with and without human immunodeficiency virus infection. Men were largely unable to accurately assess the presence of EGWs. Self-reporting of EGWs was not a sensitive tool; only 38% of men who had EGWs diagnosed by a trained examiner who used bright light and visual inspection also reported having them. Lymphangioma circumscriptum (LC) is an uncommon dermatologic problem that rarely affects the vulva and it is considered to be a localised developmental defect of lymphatic tissue in the dermis. We report a case of vulval LC, clinically diagnosed as genital wart, in a 48-year-old woman without evidence of secondary lymphatic damage. The patient required extensive vulval surgery and there was no recurrence after 16 months.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) has been strongly associated with malignancy in the female lower genital tract. Because squamous-cell carcinoma of the cervix is preceded by a spectrum of easily detectable and treatable premalignant changes, it is very preventable.
