A method for the determination of methyl mercury in whole blood samples based on ethylation-gas chromatography-cold vapor atomic fluorescence spectrometry after alkaline digestion-solvent extraction is described. The extraction procedure and conditions were optimized, and the matrix interference after extraction was critically investigated. The developed manifold uses a two-stage photooxidation/thermal digestion procedure together with oxidizing and hydrolyzing reagents to convert all forms of phosphorus compounds to orthophosphate. BACKGROUND: Mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor (MANF) is an evolutionarily conserved endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident and secreted protein highly expressed in the digestive system. Emerging evidence has highlighted its pivotal roles in liver diseases, as well as in other digestive diseases including intestinal and pancreatic disorders.
