Copper content effects on passive film of modified 00Cr20Ni18Mo6CuN super austenitic stainless steels in acidic environment.

To provide a theoretical basis for the design of super austenitic stainless steel used in flue gas desulfurization environment, by changing the Cu content in 00Cr20Ni18Mo6CuN super austenitic stainless steel to explore the influence of Cu on its corrosion resistance, by electrochemical methods, XPS and first-principle computational simulations. The results show that Cu promotes the selective dissolution of Fe, Cr and Mo in stainless steel, and the copper content changes the proportion of compounds in the passive film, as well as its surface quality, resistance and defect density. The addition

Understanding H-aggregates crystallization induced emissive behavior: insights from theory.

We conducted a theoretical investigation into how the molecular stacking effect impacts the photophysical properties in solid phases. Our findings indicated that in the aggregated state, the out-of-plane distorted vibration and imidazole ring stretching vibration of triimidazo-[1,3,5] triazinethe are significantly suppressed, which decreased the Huang-Rhys factor and the corresponding reorganization energy of the photophysical process, as a result, this restricted intramolecular motions and dissipation pathways of excess energy in the excited state, therefore, aggregation induced enhancement e

An advanced bath model to simulate association followed by ensuing dissociation dynamics of benzene + benzene system: a comparative study of gas and condensed phase results.

The role of the environment (N2 molecules) on the association followed by the ensuing dissociation reaction of benzene + benzene system is s … ion. Higher association rate and lower dissociation rate in condensed phase dynamics are due to the energy transfer process. Hence, the energy transfer phenomenon plays a decisive role in the association/dissociation dynamics, which is completely ignored in the same reaction when studied in vacuum.

At the same time, the long wavelength fluorescence band of SP, arising as a result of resonance energy transfer from the excited NI unit, appears to be virtually unchanged upon Hg2+ binding. This allows self-calibration of the optical response. The observed spectral behavior is consistent with the formation of the (NI-SP)·Hg2+ complex (dissociation constant 0 …

Photoelectrochemical immunosensor based on CdSe@BiVO4 Co-sensitized TiO2 for carcinoembryonic antigen.

The fast and accurate detection of Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) plays an important role in clinical cancer treatment and therapy. An ultrasensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensor for the detection of CEA was constructed using CdSe@BiVO4 co-sensitized TiO2 nanorods as photoactive materials. TiO2 nanorods were assembled on the FTO modified electrode to immobilize capture antibodies. With a sandwich immunoassay format, CEA and signal antibodies labelled CdSe@BiVO4 were introduced in sequence via specific immunoreaction, and the ultrahigh sensitivity of this immunoassay results from the

Applied anatomy of the anterior cranial fossa: what can fracture patterns tell us?

The skull base is uniquely placed to absorb anteriorly directed forces imparted either via the midfacial skeleton or cranial vault. A variet … fossa with a lateral vector of impact compared to an anterior vector (P=0.049). This difference in energy transfer across the skull base may, in part, be explained by the local anatomy. The more delicate central ACF acts as a 'crumple zone' in order to absorb force. Conversely, no collapsible interface exists in the lateral aspect of the ACF, thus the lateral AC …

Investigation of fin model using RNN intelligent computing associated to physical parameters and hybrid nanomaterials.

The efficient thermal transport through trapezoidal fin surface remains a significant multi engineering problem because traditional fins configuration offers unsatisfactory heat transport subject to high thermal loads which limits the colling system's thermal performance. Although, the nanoparticles have potential role in the heat mechanism across trapezoidal fin but the combined contribution of hybrid nanofluid properties, magnetic field, wetting surface and temperature dependent thermal conductivity has not been adequately presented using AI based computational paradigm. Therefore, the prese

Inter- and intra-stacking-influenced charge hopping interactions in core-substituted squaraine dye derivatives: a computational investigation.

The stacking arrangement and associated interactions within the crystal packing of ten core-substituted squaraine (CSQ) dyes, which were symmetric dicyanovinyl (DCV) acceptor group-functionalized squaraine derivatives with distinct electron-rich side donor moieties containing various substituents, were assessed using computational methods. Out of the three sets, two contained indolenine and quinolinium donor moieties as side substitutions. In the first set, the halogen substituents on indolenine donor moieties (such as -Cl, -Br, and -I) exhibited monoclinic polymorphism, while the -F substitut

Observation of Solvent-Dependence in the Mechanism of Neutral-Catalyzed Isomerization of para-Aminobenzoic Acid Protomers.

Proton-transfer reactions are commonplace during electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry experiments and are often responsible for imparting charge to analyte molecules. Multiple protonation-site isomers (protomers) can arise for polyfunctional molecules and these isomers can interconvert via solvent-mediated proton transfer reactions during various stages of the ESI process. Studying the populations and interconversion of protonation isomers provides key insight into the ESI process, ion-molecule interactions, and ion dissociation mechanisms. An archetype molecule to study protomer in

Development of Dopant-Free N,N'-Bicarbazole-Based Hole Transport Materials for Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells.

Efficient and stable hole-transport material (HTM) is essential for enhancing the efficiency and stability of high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The commonly used HTMs such as spiro-OMeTAD need dopants to produce high efficiency, but those dopants degrade the perovskite film and cause instability. Therefore, the development of dopant-free N,N'-bicarbazole-based HTM is receiving huge attention for preparing stable, cost-effective, and efficient PSCs. Herein, we designed and proposed seven distinct small-molecule-based HTMs (B1-B7), which are synthesized and do not require dopants to

Periodically Poled Piezoelectric Lithium Niobate Resonator for Piezoelectric Power Conversion.

As demand for compact and efficient power conversion systems increases, piezoelectric power converters have attracted attention for their ability to replace bulky magnetic inductors with acoustic resonators, thereby enabling higher power density and improved efficiency. Achieving optimal converter performance requires resonators with a high quality factor (Q), strong electromechanical coupling ( $\textit {k}^{{2}}$ ), high-power handling capability, and a spurious-free response. Lithium niobate (LN) has emerged as a promising material in this context due to its high figure of merit (FoM $= \te

Aggregation-State Dynamics Drive Double Cooperativity Between Antimicrobial Peptides LL-37 and HNP1.

The double cooperative effect between two major antimicrobial peptides, LL-37 and HNP1, where their combination enhances antimicrobial efficiency while reducing cytotoxicity, offers a promising strategy for developing safer and more effective antibiotics against antimicrobial resistance. However, the molecular mechanism driving this effect has remained unclear. In this study, a combination of total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy, Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and molecular dynamic simulation (MD) revealed that the double coopera…

DNA Tetrahedral Nanoprobes-Based Logic-Gated FRET Sensor for in Situ Analysis of Dual MicroRNAs in Extracellular Vesicles.

Conventional analysis of extracellular vesicle (EV)-derived microRNAs relies on vesicle lysis and RNA extraction, which disrupt native vesicular structure and eliminate intravesicular molecular cargoes. Here, we report a rigid DNA tetrahedral nanoprobes-based logic-gated Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) platform for in situ, amplification-free detection of dual miRNAs directly within intact EVs. Tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs) targeting miR-21 and miR-141 were engineered with concealed sticky ends that become exposed upon target binding, triggering conditional interparticle assem…

Podocin oligomers regulate the ordering of nephrin chains, providing the molecular basis of NPHS2 interallelic interactions.

The most frequent causative genes in podocytopathies are NPHS1 and NPHS2 that encode the main slit diaphragm components nephrin and podocin, … expressed in HEK-293 cells. We assessed the nephrin-nephrin distance based on the Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) efficiency between YPet and mCherry/mRuby in living cells. Podocin markedly increased the FRET efficiency between nephrin molecules, reflecting reduced and ordered nephrin-nephrin distances. Its effect was abolished by pathogenic podocin vari …

Proton RBE for in vivo model systems: LET and dose dependencies for early and late biological endpoints.

PURPOSE: Proton therapy applies a constant relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of 1.1, despite increasing evidence that RBE varies with physical and biological factors such as linear energy transfer (LET), dose, and tissue type. Variable RBE models from in vitro data may not reflect in vivo radiation responses. This study aimed to compile and analyze a comprehensive database of published in vivo RBE data from proton irradiations. METHODS AND MATERIALS: In vivo proton RBE studies were identified through a literature review. RBE values, doses, biological endpoints were extracted from 25 stu…

Investigating LETd optimization strategies in carbon ion radiotherapy for pancreatic cancer: a dosimetric study using an anthropomorphic phantom.

BACKGROUND: Clinical carbon ion beams offer the potential to overcome hypoxia-induced radioresistance in pancreatic tumors, due to their high dose-averaged Linear Energy Transfer (LETd), as previous studies have linked a minimum LETd within the tumor to improved local control. Current clinical practices at the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center (HIT), which use two posterior beams, do not fully exploit the LETd advantage of carbon ions, as the high LETd is primarily focused on the beams' distal edges. Different LETd-boosting strategies, such as Spot-scanning Hadron Arc (SHArc), could enhance L…

Kinetic comparison of all eleven viral polyprotein cleavage site processing events by SARS-CoV-2 main protease using a linked protein FRET platform.

The main protease (Mpro) remains an essential therapeutic target for COVID-19 post infection intervention given its critical role in processing the majority of viral proteins encoded by the genome of severe acute respiratory syndrome related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Upon viral entry, the +ssRNA genome is translated into two long polyproteins (pp1a or the frameshift-dependent pp1ab) containing all the nonstructural proteins (nsps) required by the virus for immune modulation, replication, and ultimately, virion assembly. Included among these nsps is the cysteine protease Mpro (nsp5) which sel
