The macroscopic features of the venous drainage of the reproductive system of the male ostrich were studied in six pre-pubertal and three sexually mature and active birds. Each testis was drained by one to four testicular veins. Based on the response to three different gonadotropin challenges, we evaluated seasonal production of testosterone in a group of captive-raised four-year-old male alligators that varied in size. OBJECTIVE: Neonatal treatment of male monkeys with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (Ant) increased the incidence of delayed puberty. Using blood samples that had been collected from monkeys with normal or delayed puberty, we assessed the potential involvement of leptin and thyroxine (T4) in sexual development.

The development of testes and genital accessory organs, the plasma testosterone concentration and the reactivity of seminal vesicles to catecholamines were studied in rats rendered cryptorchid at the time of prepubertal growth. We tested the hypothesis that daily FSH surges are correlated with the anestrous condition in adult Turkish hamsters. Blood samples were collected from anestrous hamsters on short (12L:12D) and long photoperiods (16L:8D) by cardiac puncture.
