We report details of a neonate with cranial bone dysplasia, broad nasal bridge, microphthalmia, optic and olfactory nerve anomalies, pulmonary segmentation defects, polydactyly, abnormally positioned and shaped thumbs, absent mesentery to the gut and streak gonads. Review of the literature and relevant databases does not identify a likely diagnosis.

The records of 92 patients who sustained fractures of the transverse processes of thoracic or lumbar vertebrae between 1976 and mid-1982 were reviewed. The majority were injured in motor vehicle accidents. Trauma to abdominal viscera occurred in 19 patients including hepatic injuries in six, splenic injuries in 12, and colonic injuries in five. Detachable coils grant controlled deployment, retrieval, and repositioning until desired placement is achieved for complex visceral artery aneurysms (VAAs), but a detailed investigation is needed for its clinical application. Between June 2018 and September 2020, 28 patients with 31 complex VAAs successfully treated with detachable coils in two hospitals were retrospectively analyzed. Cutaneous metastasis of rectal carcinoma is a rare event. It occurs in fewer than 4% of all patients with rectal cancer. Although skin metastasis of rectal cancer is usually detected around surgical scars or on the abdominal wall, especially in the periumbilical region, it rarely presents at other sites. The early diagnosis of skin metastases in these patients is very important because it can alter treatment. A case of signet cell carcinoma of the rectum with cutaneous metastases without accompanying visceral involvement is presented, occurring 14 months after completion of adjuvant therapy.

A 39-year-old female presented for elective bilateral thoracoscopic splanchnicectomy for chronic severe visceral pain. Surgery and anaesthesia were uneventful and she gained good symptomatic relief. Postoperative recovery was complicated by the development on day four of bilateral herpes zoster at the T8 dermatome level. This was treated immediately with oral acyclovir.
