Intravascular plaques, the pathologic lesions of atherosclerosis, are largely composed of cholesterol-laden luminal macrophage-rich infiltrates within a fibrous cap. Periscapular abcess is an extremely rare clinical condition. Diagnosis and treatment can be delayed because the clinical picture often resembles septic arthritis of the shoulder. Early diagnosis and prompt surgical treatment are mandatory, as delayed treatment can be fatal due to sepsis. Previously, four cases of periscapular abcess were described in English literature. We describe two pediatric patients with periscapular abcess, who were treated surgically and healed without any complication.

Agomelatine is a new antidepressant with a novel profile of pharmacological action. Linezolid is an antibiotic used to treat highly resistant infections, including vancomycin-resistant enterococci and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Enterococcus faecalis bacteremia occurs in pediatric patients. We present a teenager admitted for bacteremia caused by E faecalis with a distinctive pattern of resistance to linezolid. This organism has the highest MIC to linezolid reported in the literature to date.

Agomelatine is an atypical antidepressant with a long half-life and the mechanism of action similar to melatonin. Agomelatine is a strong antioxidant and its anti-inflammatory effect has been reported in many studies. The current study aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of agomelatine loaded in targeted nanoparticles (NPs) in an experimental colitis model induced by trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS). OBJECTIVE: To assess efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetics (PK) of oral lenacapavir (LEN) when used as oral bridging (OB) between delayed subcutaneous (SC) LEN injections.
DESIGN: Post-hoc analysis of participants in two clinical trials of SC LEN for HIV-1 treatment who required OB when LEN SC dosing was interrupted.
