Noncoding RNAs have been widely recognized as essential mediators of gene regulation. However, in contrast to protein-coding genes, much less is known about the influence of noncoding RNAs on human diseases. Here we examined the association of genetic variants located in primary microRNA sequences and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) with Alzheimer disease (AD) by leveraging data from the largest genome-wide association meta-analysis of late-onset AD. Variants annotated to 5 miRNAs and 10 lncRNAs (in seven distinct loci) exceeded the Bonferroni-corrected significance threshold (p < 1.02 × 10-6 ).

OBJECTIVE: Adrenal vein sampling (AVS) is considered the gold standard in the differential diagnosis of primary aldosteronism (PA), but success rates vary between centers. We hypothesized that rapid (intraprocedure) cortisol measurement can improve performance in a center with initially low AVS success rate.

Maternal and cord sera (231 pairs) were tested to measure rubella IgG levels, using a commercial immunoassay method with final fluorescent detection (ELFA). One hundred and twenty-two women had been vaccinated against rubella. Geometric mean concentrations (GMC) were not associated with time since vaccination. GMC of rubella IgG among vaccinated and unvaccinated mothers were respectively 66.6 and 80.9IU/ml (p=0.29). The corresponding values for cord sera GMC were 140.6 and 140.2IU/ml (p=0.99).
