OBJECTIVE: Benign localized fibrous tumors (BLFT) of the pleura are very rare slow-growing neoplasms that generally have a favorable prognosis. The aim of this manuscript is to evaluate the predictors of outcome with the review of the literature in a series of 25 patients with BLFT.
METHODS: Between January 1985 and November 2009, 25 patients underwent an operation due to BLFT. Of these patients, 14 (56%) were male; mean age was 41.1 (25 to 64) years. BACKGROUND: Müllerian duct anomaly is a rare condition. Many cases remain unidentified, especially if asymptomatic. Thus, it is difficult to determine the actual incidence. Müllerian duct anomaly is associated with a wide range of gynecological and obstetric complications, namely infertility, endometriosis, urinary tract anomalies, and preterm delivery. Lung protective ventilation strategies are recommended in acute respiratory distress syndrome to avoid ventilator associated lung injury, a recently characterized complication of mechanical ventilation. INTRODUCTION: Most frequently, abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) ruptures into retroperitoneal space. The rupture of AAA into inferior vena cava is an uncommon event. BACKGROUND: Persistent pain following total knee replacemnt (TKR) remains a challenging and often multifactorial issue. While common causes include infection, malalignment, or complex regional pain syndrome, less typical origins are easily overlooked. We report a unique case of chronic, disproportionate posterior thigh pain 1 year after TKR, caused by a complete proximal hamstring rupture leading to symptomatic sciatic nerve compression. To our knowledge, this is the first published case describing this specific postoperative complication and its successful surgical management.

BACKGROUND: An isolated coronary sinus (CS) atrial septal defect (ASD) is defined as a CS unroofed in the terminal portion without a persistent left superior vena cava or other anomalies. This defect is rare and part of the wide spectrum of unroofed CS syndrome (URCS). Recently, several reports have described this finding.
