The exact pathogenesis of gallbladder adenomyomatosis is still lacking and some controversies over its diagnosis and treatment exist. Originally recognized as a precancerous lesion, adenomyomatosis is currently recognized by recent studies as a benign alteration of the gallbladder that is often associated with cholecystitis and cholecystolithiasis. Gallbladder carcinoma is an extremely malignant disease with a 5-year survival rate of less than 5%. Thymic epithelial tumors include thymoma and thymic carcinoma. Histologic findings and extent of disease are key determinants of prognosis and help guide postoperative management in patients with thymic epithelial tumors. Given the relative rarity of these tumors, the use of tumor guidelines and checklists can facilitate accurate and comprehensive pathologic reporting in this setting. This report describes a case of carcinosarcoma of the duodenum. Carcinosarcoma of the duodenum is a very rare tumor. A 72-year-old man was referred to the hospital because of appetite loss. Endoscopy demonstrated an irregularly depressed lesion (type 3) in the descending portion of the duodenum opposite to the ampulla of Vater.
