This meta-analysis compared harmonic scalpel and LigaSure® systems with the conventional clamp-and-tie technique in thyroidectomy. Medline, Cochrane, EMBASE, and Google Scholar databases were searched until December 30, 2015. Randomized controlled studies (RCTs) or two-arm prospective studies were included. OBJECTIVE: To compare the surgical effect of three-dimensional (3D) versus 2D laparoscopic surgery in ureter lithotomy.
METHODS: From January 2014 to 2015 May, 45 patients with ureteral calculi were randomly allocated into 2 groups to undergo ureter lithotomy under 3D laparoscopy (25 cases) and 2D laparoscopy (20 cases). The objective of this prospective observational study, performed in a university hospital and a tertiary care center, was to describe the surgical technique and our initial experience with single-port laparoscopically assisted transumbilical ultraminilaparotomic myomectomy (SPLA-TUM). Vesicovaginal fistulas are a rare complication of hysterectomy. When conservative therapy fails, vaginal or abdominal repair is necessary. A robotic-assisted laparoscopic approach can be a useful tool to repair complex fistulas. A 50-year-old woman with a vesicovaginal fistula located at the top of the vagina, was treated with robotic-assisted laparoscopic repair. The fistula tissue was removed from the vaginal wall and bladder, and epiploic of the sigmoid was interposed in between. The total operation time was 104 min. BACKGROUND: Transperitoneal rectal stump resection is a complicated procedure with risk of inadvertent bowel, vascular and nerve injury. This study analysed the feasibility and safety of the use of transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) to excise rectal stumps that would otherwise require a combined transabdominal and perineal approach.
METHODS: Rectal stump resection was performed by a transanal approach using TEM. Stumps were removed by complete rectal wall resection and intersphincteric resection of the anus, leaving the mesorectum in place.

Results of surgical treatment of 28 adolescent girls with vaginal aplasia and functioning uterus are analyzed. The uterus had to be removed in all the patients 1.5 to 6 months after abdominal colpopoiesis with preservation of functioning uterus; after sigmoidal colpopoiesis the uterus was preserved in 85% of patients. Over a period of three years (January 1987 to December 1990), 78 cases of conservative surgery for pelvic relaxation, either at our hospital or in some other hospitals, were studied. All of these patients were admitted in active labor or as cases of abortions. The complex nature of the problem of pelvic relaxation or genital prolapse is evident from the fact that we have encountered as many as six conservative operations in our series. The reproductive performance of a patient along with the time taken for the conception to occur after the surgery are emphasized in our study.
