Human vascular smooth muscle cells (HVSMC) cultured from restenotic lesions are resistant to inhibition of proliferation by heparin. We examined if altered expression of p53 protein might be related to this phenomenon. PATIENT AND METHODS: A 58-year-old man presented with a painless pinkish-white chest nodule ongoing for two years. Histopathology revealed a proliferation of intradermal smooth-muscle cells. Leiomyoma is a benign smooth muscle tumor which is rarely found in the paraurethral region. We report a case of paraurethral leiomyoma in a 44-year-old female who visited a clinic complaining of urinary retention. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a 9 cm mass adjacent to the urethra. A case of very rare uterine clear cell epithelioid leiomyomatosis is reported. The patient presented with a recurrent pelvic mass after hysterectomy 2 years earlier. The recurrent tumor was located mainly in the vessels of the broad ligament as worm-like plugs.
