Personality traits and adolescent anxiety: serial mediating roles of Red music cultural identification and self-identity.

OBJECTIVE: Adolescence is a critical period for personality formation and vulnerability to anxiety. Although personality traits are well-established predictors of adolescent anxiety, comparatively little research has examined the cultural mechanisms underlying this association. Drawing on culture-personality interaction theory, this study examined whether Red music cultural identification and self-identity sequentially mediate the association between Big Five personality traits and anxiety among Chinese adolescents. Specifically, we tested the pathway "Big Five personality traits → Red music c

Associations of depression, anxiety, and insomnia symptoms in subthreshold depression: a network analysis.

BACKGROUND: Subthreshold depression (SD) represents a critical public health concern, marked by clinically significant depressive symptoms below the diagnostic threshold for major depressive disorder. Despite frequent comorbidity with anxiety and insomnia, the symptom-level interactions remain poorly understood. Network analysis offers a novel framework to examine these dynamic relationships and identify central symptoms that may drive SD’s psychopathology. We hypothesize that the symptom network of SD may exhibit specific patterns of interconnectivity, with certain central and bridge symptoms

Determinants of depression in patients with comorbid depression following cardiac rehabilitation.

BACKGROUND: A prior history of depression, at the point patients start cardiac rehabilitation (CR), is associated with poor outcomes; however, little is known about which factors play a part in determining the extent of benefit following CR. Therefore, we aim to identify and evaluate determinants of CR depression outcomes in patients with comorbid depression. METHODS: An observational study of routine practice using the British Heart Foundation National Audit of Cardiac Rehabilitation data between April 2012 and March 2017. Baseline characteristics were examined with independent samples t-tes

An evaluation of the impact of post-hysterectomy vesicovaginal fistula repair on the mental health of patients in a developed country.

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Obstetric vesicovaginal fistulae (VVFs) occur frequently as a result of childbirth in developing countries, but occurrence of VVFs in developed countries is rare and is generally observed after hysterectomy. Moreover, there are no reports regarding the effect of post-hysterectomy VVF repair on the patients' mental health in developed countries. Our study aimed to confirm the effect of post-hysterectomy VVF repair on Japanese iatrogenic VVF patients' mental health. METHODS: A retrospective chart review was performed for 31 patients who underwent post-hysterectomy V

Pain Catastrophizing Scale for Francophone Adolescents: a preliminary validation.

BACKGROUND: In adults, it is well known that high levels of pain catastrophizing are related to increased pain and disability as well as to heightened anxiety and depression. However, due to the lack of a measure of pain catastrophizing adapted for francophone adolescents, little is known about the role of catastrophizing in this population. OBJECTIVES: To adapt the French version of the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) and to examine the psychometric properties and factorial structure of the PCS for Francophone Adolescents (PCS-Ado). METHODS: The French version of the PCS was modified by a

Factor Structure of the Screen for Child Anxiety-Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) in a Community Sample of Hong Kong Chinese Adolescents.

The current study tested the factor structure of the 41-item SCARED in assessing anxiety in a sample of Hong Kong adolescents. Data were collected from 5,226 youths (54.5 % boys) aged 12-18. Results showed that the scale and the five subscales had high internal consistency. However, confirmatory factor analyses showed that the original five-factor model did not fit the data collected in this sample. Instead, the results revealed a seven-factor model consisting of one second-order factor of anxiety and seven first-order factors: the four original factors of General Anxiety, Panic/Somatic Syndro

The role of insomnia in the vulnerability to depressive and anxiety symptoms in atopic dermatitis adult patients.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory chronic skin disease typically associated with atopic comorbidities and other non-atopic conditions such as sleep disturbances, and mood/anxiety disorders. A growing literature proposed a crucial role of sleep disturbances in the development of mental health problems in AD. We tested this assumption by mediation model analyses in adult AD patients.A total of 57 patients (mean age ± std. dev., 34.28 ± 13.07 years; 27 males; range 18-67 years) diagnosed with AD participated in a cross-sectional study. We evaluated self-perceived severity of AD, ins
