A 48-year-old man presented for evaluation of an expanding abdominal mass. Twenty years earlier, he had developed Fournier's gangrene requiring extensive debridement. He underwent augmentation cystoplasty with a catheterizable stoma due to a proximal urethral stricture. Fifteen years later, he was found to have a 14 cm x 18 cm bladder augment calculus. Simpson obstetric forceps were passed into the augment to deliver a 1110 gram stone with minimal devitalization of the colonic augmentation tissue. A 48-year-old married woman complaining of macroscopic hematuria and cystitis symptom was admitted to our institute. Flexible cystoscopy revealed many yellowish, nodular masses at the paries posterior of the urinary bladder, and cold-punch biopsy proved it to be amyloidosis. Serum amyloid protein A (SAA) was high, and suggested systemic amyloidosis. Renal biopsy and colon fiberscopy did not reveal any abnormalities. We report the case of a 29-year-old male who presented to us with hematuria, dysuria and bilateral flank pain. On evaluation, the patient was found to have primary pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma of bladder with calcified pulmonary metastasis, confirmed with computerized tomography scan and immunohistochemistry.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the risk factors and prognosis of muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) developing after nephroureterectomy for upper urinary tract urothelial cell carcinoma (UUT-UC).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We reviewed the medical records of 422 patients who underwent nephroureterectomy for UUT-UC between 1990 and 2010, and identified 173 (40.9%) with intravesical recurrence and 28 (6.6%) with MIBC. We evaluated the clinicopathologic features, risk factors, and cancer-specific survival (CSS) using the Kaplan-Meier method and the Cox proportional hazards regression models.

Male gender and a family history of cancer are established risk factors for urinary bladder neoplasms.
