The case histories of two sisters with ocular infantile myasthenia are reported. The older girl has been suffering from the disease for 11 years now. Infantile myasthenia is clinically and genetically different from myasthenia gravis which occurs in older patients. The disease is probably due to a number of factors, a special genetical disposition which facilitates the specific effect of environmental factors. BACKGROUND: Filamentary keratitis is most often a chronic corneal condition, characterized by filaments attached at one or both ends to the cornea. Patients often experience foreign body sensation, grittiness, discomfort, photophobia, blepharospasm, and increased blinking. Filamentary keratitis is commonly the result of aqueous deficient dry eye syndrome. To characterize the relationship between bruxism and dystonia, 79 patients (28 men and 51 women) with cranial-cervical dystonia were studied. Sixty-two patients (78.5%), 22 men and 40 women, had bruxism. This chapter presents a review of the literature for falls and abnormalities of balance and gait in isolated dystonia syndromes. To clarify the factors determining the amelioration of Meige's syndrome, changes of involuntary movements (IVMs) and functional disability, we examined 60 patients with Meige's syndrome during 5 years after the onset. On average, they showed gradual worsening of IVMs for approximately 2.1 years, then the IVMs ameliorated slowly. In many patients, blepharospasm appeared as the first symptom.
