BACKGROUND: IgY isolated from egg yolk has been widely used in immunodiagnostic tests, including tests to detect circulating antigen (soluble egg antigen or SEA) of Schistosoma japonicum.
RESULTS: A sandwich ELISA was established using a combination of anti-S. japonicum SEA-IgY polyclonal antibodies and IgM monoclonal antibodies. OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether levels of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (anti-CCP2) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are associated with the co-occurrence of lung diseases.

A role of autoimmune process and its link with bacterial infections in initiation or aggravation of atherosclerosis symptoms has been suggested. Antigenic mimicry and cross-reactivity of circulating antibodies have been indicated as some major factors in this process. In this study, the prevalence and titers of IgG and IgA antibodies reacting with glycine extract of H. pylori surface antigens were determined immunoenzymatically (ELISA) in the group of patients with unstable ischaemic heart disease and in patients with aggravated dyspepsia. A multistep immunocytochemical method utilizing horseradish peroxidase as an immunologically bound marker was used to detect and localize IgA deposits in skin of patients with dermatitis herpetiformis at the ultrastructural level.
