BACKGROUND: Pseudo-Kaposi sarcoma (PKS) is a rare vascular proliferative disease, caused by arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and chronic venous insufficiency. The lesions are characterized by purple or reddish-brownish papules, plaques, and nodules. Although benign, it is clinically similar to Kaposi's sarcoma (KS), a malignant disease, and must be differentiated by histopathological examination. For melanoma patients, surgery is a standard treatment for locoregional skin metastasis (LSM). To assess the frequency and risk factors for positive margins after excision of LSM and their impact on patient overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). A monocentric, retrospective observational study was performed including 87 patients with LSM who had undergone surgical excision. Positive margins were found in 45% of patients after excision.
