Hereditary Persistence of Alpha-Fetoprotein and Safe Application of Growth Hormone in Familial Short Stature: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a glycoprotein with a high serum level during pregnancy, hepatocyte proliferation, and malignant conditions in clinical settings. Hereditary persistence of alpha-fetoprotein (HPAFP) is a rare benign disorder characterized by elevated serum levels of AFP without any relevant clinical disability. Recent research has demonstrated it to be an autosomal dominant inheritance type; however, only 9 of the 30 recently reported cases could be explained by genetic analysis. CASE REPORT We describe a girl with growth retardation for 5 years who was accidentally found

Charting the growth of idiopathic short stature research: a 32-year bibliometric study of global advances.

INTRODUCTION: Idiopathic short stature (ISS) is a common paediatric endocrinological disorder defined by a height > two standard deviations (SDs) below the mean for age, sex, and ethnicity without an identifiable cause. This condition accounts for 60-80% of short stature cases in children and presents with complex and heterogeneous aetiology. ISS-related research has expanded rapidly over the past three decades; however, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis outlining its developmental trajectory and identifying emerging research priorities remains unavailable. Therefore, using network visuali

Short stature, optic atrophy, and Pelger-Huët anomaly (SOPH) syndrome: report of a case lacking neutrophil morphologic changes and review of literature.

INTRODUCTION: Short stature, optic atrophy, and Pelger-Huët anomaly (SOPH) syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive condition associated with variants in the NBAS gene. First described in 2010, SOPH syndrome is a relatively newly recognized condition and our understanding of the range of its manifestations and the variable expressivity of its features continues to evolve. A total of 110 cases of SOPH syndrome have been published in the literature to date, 93 of which were published in two case series reporting on the Yakut population. METHODS: Case report and review of literature. RESULTS: We

[Pharmacological therapies for height improvement in pubertal children with short stature].

Short stature in puberty significantly affects the physical and mental health of adolescents. The continuous acceleration of skeletal maturation, caused by sex hormones during puberty, limits the time available for growth and poses a considerable challenge for the treatment of short stature. To date, there is still no standardized treatment protocol for this disorder. However, puberty is the last period to improve the final adult height. Currently, commonly used pharmacological treatments in clinical settings include recombinant human growth hormone, gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogs, and

Evaluating the TUITEK® patient support program in supporting caregivers of children diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency in Argentina.

INTRODUCTION: The appropriate use of recombinant human growth hormone (r-hGH) treatment provides an opportunity to improve growth outcomes among pediatric patients with growth hormone deficiency (GHD). However, a major challenge in clinical practice is to adequately recognize and address factors that negatively affect treatment adherence. TUITEK® patient support program (PSP) was designed to help caregivers of children diagnosed with GHD to personalize the care pathway, improve adherence, and achieve better outcomes. Effectiveness of TUITEK® PSP has been demonstrated previously in a smaller sa

[Attaching great importance to the scientific assessment of short stature in children].

Short stature is a common physical developmental abnormality in children. Without timely and accurate diagnosis, as well as early intervention, it can impose a heavy burden on the children and their families. There are numerous causes for short stature, and the diagnostic process essentially involves identifying its underlying causes. Based on a thorough understanding of the regular patterns of child physical development and the characteristics of individuals at high risk of short stature, a scientific definition of short stature needs to be established, along with standardized diagnostic and
