PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to investigate the corticosteroids for uveal effusion syndrome (UES).
METHODS: Retrospective series of 104 eyes with UES treated with oral corticosteroids (OCS), periocular corticosteroids (PCS), topical corticosteroids (TCS), or observation (OBS). Main outcome measure was UES resolution.

CLINICAL CASE: The case is presented of a 56 year-old patient diagnosed with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and on treatment with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). A Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) was performed that showed changes in the outer retina in the eye with macular detachment, as well as the «flying saucer» sign in the other eye. After a complete retinopexy the «flying saucer» sign was still present.

Patients presenting with pleural effusion of undetermined aetiology were prospectively enrolled, and an enzyme-linked immunospot (ELISPOT) assay on pleural fluid and peripheral blood was performed. Forty patients were studied, including 19 with culture- or biopsy-confirmed (n = 15) or clinically compatible (n = 4) tuberculous pleurisy, and 21 with pleural effusions due to non-tuberculous causes. PURPOSE: To report delayed visual recovery resulting from slow resolution of subfoveal subretinal fluid measured with optical coherence tomography (OCT) after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for repair of tractional retinal detachment (TRD) involving the fovea secondary to proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).

PURPOSE: To report frequency, clinical characteristics, treatment, and the complications of branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) with serous macular detachment.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively studied 22 eyes of 22 patients in 111 eyes with acute BRVO, whose eyes had serous macular detachment that was detected by optical coherence tomography (OCT). Fluorescein angiography was conducted in 19 of the 22 eyes. Fourteen of the 22 eyes underwent scatter laser photocoagulation of the BRVO area. PURPOSE: To report tomographic features of macular edema associated with distant retinal vascular disorders.
METHODS: Six eyes with macular edema (three with extramacular branch retinal vein occlusion and three with Coats disease) underwent fluorescein angiography to detect dye leakage and optical coherence tomography to evaluate the macular features and measure the foveal height (distance between inner retinal surface and retinal pigment epithelium) and the retinal thickness (thickness of neurosensory retina) at the central fovea.

We investigated the changes in the amount of joint effusion estimated from T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) before and after arthroscopic lysis and lavage of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). We studied 29 consecutive patients, each with internal derangement and osteoarthritis in one TMJ. Before operation, the MRI showed joint effusions in 22 of the patients (76%).
