Previous studies of the hematologic effects of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) have emphasized the morphologic changes induced by these growth factors, but few have reported increases in blasts. A 63-year-old man with a history of transient ischemic attack had been treated with ticlopidine for 2 months. He presented with a 6-day history of fever, sore throat, and generalized weakness. Agranulocytosis and anemia due to ticlopidine was diagnosed, and the ticlopidine was discontinued. Broad-spectrum antibiotics and granulocyte colony stimulating factor were administered. The recovery of the granulocyte count and an improvement of the clinical condition were noted on the 6th day of the admission.

FLAG-IDA (fludarabine, cytarabine, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, idarubicin) with venetoclax shows promise as frontline pediatric acute myeloid leukemia therapy. We describe a patient admitted to the intensive care unit following a penetrating head injury. This patient developed agranulocytosis and subsequently pancytopenia secondary to an idiosyncratic drug reaction. The possible causative drugs are phenytoin, cloxacillin, ceftriaxone and ceftazidime. The patient was treated with recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor.

She was treated with a broad-spectrum antibiotic and supportive care was provided with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) comprises a group of heterogeneous clonal bone marrow disorders leading to peripheral cytopenia(s) and hypercellular marrow in the majority of the patients. The morphology of the cell lines is characterized by dysplastic features in some or all cell lines. The FAB classification has divided MDS in five subgroups, namely (1) RA (refractory anemia); (2) RARS (refractory anemia with ring sideroblasts); (3) CMML (chronic myelomonocytic leukemia); (4) RAEB (refractory anemia with excess blasts); and (5) RAEB-T (refractory anemia with excess blasts in transformation).
