Interactions Among Three-Tier Factors of Community Safety Resilience: A Dual-Perspective Analysis.

Enhancing community safety resilience (CSR) is critical for sustainable urban development. Disregarding the complex interactions among CSR factors may cause imbalanced resilience building, limiting a community's capacity to respond to uncertain disasters. This study aims to identify principal CSR factors and examine their interaction mechanisms in the context of Chinese urban communities. We identified 101 factors spanning government, community, and personal tiers. Their interactions were assessed via expert elicitation and analyzed using directed weighted network theory and a modified suscept

Facilitators' champion behaviors for delivering an evidence-based parenting program.

Effective implementation of parenting programs relies on multiple factors, particularly the role of facilitators who actively deliver and support the intervention. Facilitators' champion behaviors or the efforts they make to encourage implementation, can positively impact the outcomes of these programs. The present study examined the predictors of facilitators' champion behaviors when delivering the ACT-Raising Safe Kids Program in public services in an upper-middle-income country. The sample comprised 131 facilitators from 26 municipalities in Brazil. Participants completed self-report questi

Using Nominal Group Technique With Human-Centered Design to Inform Preimplementation Planning for Combined Rapid-Start Initiation of Antiretroviral and Opioid Agonist Therapies in People Who Inject Drugs With HIV in Ukraine.

International guidelines recommend rapid-start antiretroviral therapy (RS-ART) for people with HIV. Guidance for implementing RS-ART among people who inject drugs (PWID), a population often denied equitable treatment due to stigma and rights violations, remains limited. Using human-centered design, barriers and facilitators to combined RS-ART and opioid agonist therapy initiation in Ukraine were explored, where HIV is concentrated among PWID with opioid use disorder. Using nominal group technique, a human-centered design method involving client input, five focus groups (6-12 participants each

Functional organization of the allostatic interoceptive network in adolescence: Links to peer victimization and prospective depressive symptoms.

The present study examines the role of brain network organization in the prospective prediction of adolescent depressive symptoms and links to the social and psychological context. Using a path model with data from a larger longitudinal study of adolescents beginning in 6th-8th grade (N = 117, 55 % female, Mage at scan= 12.99), we first established that organizational properties of brain networks theoretically linked to depression predicted greater depressive symptoms two years later. Specifically, when controlling for gender and initial depression, greater global efficiency of the allostatic

Personality network neuroscience: Promises and challenges on the way toward a unifying framework of individual variability.

We propose that the application of network theory to established psychological personality conceptions has great potential to advance a biologically plausible model of human personality. Stable behavioral tendencies are conceived as personality "traits." Such traits demonstrate considerable variability between individuals, and extreme expressions represent risk factors for psychological disorders. Although the psychometric assessment of personality has more than hundred years tradition, it is not yet clear whether traits indeed represent "biophysical entities" with specific and dissociable neu

Going home: identifying and overcoming barriers to nursing home discharge.

This article describes barriers to nursing home discharge encountered in an intervention designed to transition nursing home residents to the community. Staff in the intervention ("Project Home") provided intensive case management and discharge planning services to nursing home residents who expressed a desire to return to community-based living arrangements. Sixty program participants took part in the program evaluation that informs this article. With the exception of Medicaid status, no differences were found between the social, demographic, and health characteristics of individuals who rema

Prenatal androgen exposure programs metabolic dysfunction in female mice.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common fertility disorder with metabolic sequelae. Our laboratory previously characterized reproductive phenotypes in a prenatally androgenized (PNA) mouse model for PCOS. PNA mice exhibited elevated testosterone and LH levels, irregular estrous cycles, and neuroendocrine abnormalities suggesting increased central drive to the reproductive system. In this study, we examined metabolic characteristics of female PNA mice. PNA mice exhibited increased fasting glucose and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) that were independent of age and were not associated with

The fantasy residue: an antitherapeutic force on the psychiatric inpatient service.

This paper will attempt a model of organizational behavior to the study of the origin, perpetuation, and rectification of certain antitherapeutic forces (Sacks and Carpenter 1974) on inpatient services, which I shall call the ward's "fantasy residue." The fantasy residue consists of the enduring antitherapeutic patterns of dealing with patients that have become normative for a given ward and evolve from irrational staff responses to a variety of stresses in the absence of appropriate corrective administrative actions. Because they originate in irrational responses to complicated situations of

[A «seamless» mentoring model in forming a career trajectory for a medical specialist: from career guidance to professional identity].

The problem of the gap between education and professional development in the medical field is universal. In many countries, young professionals face barriers when transitioning from school to university, from academia to clinical practice, and from residency to independent work. Each such transition is associated with the risk of loss of motivation, decreased professional satisfaction, and, ultimately, attrition from the field. The concept of «seamless» mentoring, developed by the author, envisions the creation of a continuous support system for young professionals (mentees), in which each sta

Comprehensive integration of mental health screening and triage with mental performance services through a sport science hub model in collegiate sport.

Collegiate sport environments often bring mental health (MH) and performance (MP) into close interaction; yet, screening, triage, referral, and MP support often remain operationally fragmented. This fragmentation may weaken follow-through after screening, limit coordination across clinical and performance services, and create uncertainty around privacy, scope boundaries, and accountability. In this Perspective, drawing on implementation science, integrated care, and systems-oriented organizational design, we suggest that a promising direction in athlete MH-MP support is not simply expanding sc

Hospital preparedness and operational adaptation for the safe management of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever patients.

BACKGROUND: The Ebola virus health emergency in 2014 highlighted the urgent need to establish a hospital network in Spain for the management of high-risk infectious diseases. Currently, the only autochthonous high-risk infectious disease in Spain is Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV). Until 2025, 10 of the 20 nationally reported cases (50%) had occurred in Salamanca province. In response, the University Hospital of Salamanca (Complejo Asistencial Universitario de Salamanca [CAUSA]) implemented an adaptation process to optimize the safe care of CCHFV-infected patients. METHODS: We c

A hub and spoke model to supply the Sicilian neurorehabilitation demand: effects on hospitalization rates and patient mobility.

INTRODUCTION: Cerebrovascular diseases in Sicily have led to high mortality and healthcare challenges, with a notable gap between healthcare demand and supply. The mobility of patients seeking care, both within and outside Sicily, has economic and organizational impacts on the healthcare system. The Hub and Spoke model implemented by the IRCCS Centro Neurolesi "Bonino-Pulejo" of Messina aims to distribute advanced neurorehabilitation services throughout Sicily, potentially reducing health mobility and improving service accessibility. METHODS: The evaluation was based on calculating hospitaliz

Modifiable factors affecting inpatient violence in an acute child and adolescent psychiatric unit: A 16-year retrospective study.

Violent incidents in acute inpatient units for children and adolescents are a major and persistent problem. The demographic, clinical, and modifiable (environmental-organizational) risk factors that affect inpatient violence in an Acute Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit were investigated via a retrospective study. Data were collected from nursing and medical reports and the unit's census and included 100 days per year for 16 years. Incidents of violence and assault types were recorded, and variables such as the diagnostic category of assailants, total number of patients, and staffing facto

"I Can Only Work So Hard Before I Burn Out." A Time Sensitive Conceptual Integration of Ideological Psychological Contract Breach, Work Effort, and Burnout.

Employees often draw meaning from personal experiences and contributions in their work, particularly when engaging in organizational activities that align with their personal identity or values. However, recent empirical findings have demonstrated how meaningful work can also have a negative effect on employee's well-being as employees feel so invested in their work, they push themselves beyond their limits resulting in strain and susceptibility to burnout. We develop a framework to understand this "double edged" role of meaningful work by drawing from ideological psychological contracts (iPCs

From client to co-worker: a case study of the transition to peer work within a multi-disciplinary hepatitis c treatment team in Toronto, Canada.

BACKGROUND: Despite the integration of peer workers into harm reduction services, there is little documentation regarding the experience of this integration or of models in which peers are fully integrated as members of health care teams. The purpose of this study was to gain an in-depth understanding of the transition from client to support worker from the perspective of two individuals who received treatment for hepatitis C at a multi-disciplinary, community-based program, grounded in a harm reduction approach to substance use. METHODS: A participatory case study design was selected. Interv

[Work accidents and automatic circuit reclosers in the electricity sector: beyond the immediate causes].

The Brazilian electricity sector has recorded high work-related mortality rates that have been associated with outsourcing, used to cut costs. In order to decrease the power outage time for consumers, the industry adopted the automatic circuit recloser as the technical solution. The device has hazardous implications for maintenance workers. The aim of this study was to analyze the origins and consequences of work accidents in power systems with automatic circuit recloser, using the Accident Analysis and Prevention (AAP) model. The AAP model was used to investigate two work accidents, aimed to
