The aim of the present case series was to evaluate a simplified minimally invasive transalveolar sinus elevation technique utilizing calcium phosphosilicate (CPS) putty for hydraulic sinus membrane elevation. The simplified minimally invasive antral membrane elevation technique is based on the application of hydraulic pressure via a viscous bone graft that acts as an incompressible fluid. In this retrospective study, 21 patients (mean age: 48.5 ± 12 years) consecutively treated with the simplified minimally invasive transalveolar sinus elevation technique were evaluated. 28 tapered implants we

Implant-supported overdentures are a good alternative for patients with conventional dentures that lack retention and stability. The most common prosthetic complications in mandibular and maxillary implant-supported overdentures are fracture and loosening of the attachment system. This clinical report describes the treatment of a completely edentulous patient with sinus floor elevation by using bone from the iliac crest and the insertion of 4 implants in the maxilla and mandible followed by implant-supported overdentures. The technical procedure for the attachment of clips to an acrylic resin

The rehabilitation of edentulous posterior maxilla is a challenging task that could be complicated by the availability of low-density and reduced height of alveolar bone. Patients were enrolled in this study upon the presence of type IV bone and residual bone height <5 mm in posterior maxilla. Novel procedure for transalveolar sinus floor elevation was described to insert 10 short implants in 4 patients. Neither implant failure nor prosthetic failure was observed during a follow-up of 44 ± 3 months. Mesial bone loss of 0.5 ± 0.6 mm and a distal bone loss 1.3 ± 0.9 mm were measured after 35 ± 4

AIM: This article presents a case report of autogenous tooth transplantation to a site which had insufficient bone volume using a sinus lift and allogenic bone graft.
SUMMARY: An ectopic, fully impacted premolar tooth was autotransplanted from its ectopic impaction site into its original site, where there was insufficient recipient vertical bone volume because of sinus expansion. The deciduous tooth was extracted from the recipient site, and the sinus membrane detached and elevated via the alveolar socket. Allogenic bone grafting was performed, and the impacted premolar was transplanted into

Implant-supported rehabilitation of the posterior maxilla could be challenging because hyperpneumatization of the maxillary sinus might reduce the bone height. In this study, the authors report preliminary results of a new treatment modality for the partial fixed rehabilitation of posterior maxilla with immediate function by using 1 anterior axial implant and 1 posterior tilted implant with intrasinus mesial insertion. From 2009 to 2011, 10 patients (6 women and 4 men) with missing upper premolars and molars were recruited and treated according to this protocol. Each patient received a partial

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the predictability of new bone formation in the maxillary sinus using an autologous fibrin-rich blocks with concentrated growth factors (CGFs) alone as an alternative to graft material.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of sixty-one sinus grafts were consecutively performed using the lateral window approach. After making replaceable bony window, the sinus membrane was elevated to make a new compartment. After 113 implants (average 13 mm high) with 11 different systems were placed simultaneously, the collected fibrin-rich blocks with CGFs alone w

BACKGROUND: Osteotome sinus floor elevation (OSFE) procedure with simultaneous implant placement is known to be an efficient procedure in the atrophic maxilla, where bone regeneration is required the most. The purpose of this study was to radiologically evaluate the efficacy of using Bio-Oss Collagen with Concentrated Growth Factor (CGF) as grafting materials for OSFE with simultaneous implant placement in the atrophic maxilla after one year of functional loading.
METHODS: A total of 126 implants were placed for 123 patients. Our inclusion criteria were patients with Residual Bone Height (RBH

OBJECTIVES: This multicenter prospective study was aimed to clinically evaluate implant behavior inserted in severely resorbed maxillae and restored 3 months after sinus grafting.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: In three clinical centers, 67 totally rough wide diameter implants were inserted during 30 consecutive sinus lifts. Computed tomography and panoramic analysis were preoperatively requested for each patient. Sinus grafting was performed using a nano-crystalline hydroxyapatite sole bone filler; no membrane was used to cover the buccal window. Preoperative residual bone height ranged between 1-4

PURPOSE: Less morbidity is the major advantage to a one-stage crestal approach to maxillary sinus elevation. However, the ability to ensure high primary implant stability in a severely atrophied ridge is of chief concern. The purpose of this study is to measure and compare the success rate of implants placed at the time of crestal approach sinus lift in patients with ≤ 4 mm of residual alveolar bone (RAB) and >4 mm of RAB.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this three-site multicenter study, one hundred two patients, 53 males and 49 females, (23-89 years old; mean = 56.2) were evaluated. Three experie

BACKGROUND: Bone microbial contamination can impair osteogenesis. Human herpesviruses-associated vasculitis can cause vascular damage within the osseous graft and host. This study is conducted to substantiate specific contamination and assess the impact 6 months after sinus augmentation.
METHODS: Culture- and polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based identification were done on harvested bone particles and unstimulated whole saliva in a group of 30 patients undergoing maxillary sinus augmentation. Patients were divided into two groups: those with and those without a history of periodontitis. Radi

Bone substitute biomaterials have become a sine qua non in periodontology and implant dentistry; however, the ideal material choice remains controversial. In this review, we examine natural grafts (autograft, allograft, xenograft) and synthetic grafts (alloplasts, composites, CAD-CAM personalised materials), comparing them across the triad of osteogenesis, osteoinduction, and osteoconduction. After a thorough presentation of current classification, properties, and mechanisms of action of the various bone grafts, we outline their clinical applications across different indications and discuss fu
