Buschke-Lowenstein Tumor.

INTRODUCTION: Giant condyloma acuminatum belongs to a spectrum of diseases with malignant degeneration. Clinically, it presents as exophytic, fungating masses, sometimes with a cauliflower-like morphology. CASE PRESENTATION: We present a case of a 32-year-old female patient with a 180x95x80mm exophytic mass of the vulvar region suggestive of Buschke-Lowenstein Tumour. Treatment included wide local excision with electrosurgery and CO2 vaporization of recurrent focal lesions. Histopathological analysis confirmed the expected diagnosis. Surgery went without complications and the patient is lesio

Buschke-Lowenstein tumor.

BACKGROUND: Verrucous carcinoma of the skin and mucosa is an uncommon type of well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. When it is present in the genitoanal region the term used is Buschke-Lowenstein tumor. The human papillomavirus seems to be implicated in its aetiology. Treatment is controversial. Topical chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and radical surgery have been employed. MAIN OBSERVATIONS: We report a rapidly progressing penile verrucous carcinoma which was treated sucessfuly with conservative surgery and CO2 laser. CONCLUSION: Treatment with CO2 laser in combination with…

[Buschke-Lowenstein penile tumor].

The Buschke-Löwenstein genital tumour is a poorly defined, uncommon tumour. The distinction between benign lesions, potentially malignant lesions and carcinomatous lesions is difficult. The authors report a case of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) 11-associated Buschke-Löwenstein tumour with an area of micro-invasive carcinoma on histological examination of the surgical resection specimen. A 34-year-old patient was operated for recurrent condylomatous lesions of the penis with scrotal extension. Histological examination of the complete operative specimen confirmed the presence of Buschke-Löwenstein

[Buschke-Lowenstein tumors].

BACKGROUND: A giant condyloma acuminatum which shows destructive growth but lacking invasion is designated as a Buschke-Lowenstein tumor (BLT). OBJECTIVES: Classification of the BLT and therapeutic guidelines are provided. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A MEDLINE literature search from 2006-2016 was performed. RESULTS: Induction through low-risk mucosotropic human papillomavirus (HPV) infection separates BLT from verrucous carcinoma. In the last 10 years, slightly more than 100 new cases have been described. Invasion as a true sign of malignancy was described in 12% of cases. HIV infection was obse…

[Buschke-Lowenstein tumor of the penis].

Buschke-Lowenstein (BLT) tumor or giant condyloma acuminatum (GCA) is a rare viral disease belonging to the group of verrucous carcinomas; the virus responsible is human papilloma virus (HPV) type 6 and 11 which is transmitted in humans by sexual contact. It is characterized by its extension within the surface layer and at depth, by its degenerative potential and by its recurrent nature after treatment. Therapy is based on surgery. We report the case of a 53-year old patient with a history of recurrent urethritis and a multiplicity of partners without homosexual encounters, presenting with a l

Buschke Lowenstein tumor: unusual bilateral localization.

BACKGROUND: The tumor of buschke lowenstein or giant condyloma acuminata is a pseudo-épitheliomatous profileration bilonging to verrucous carcinoma group due to their aggressive local evolution. A malignant change as micro invasive carcinoma or epidermoid kératinizing carcinoma well-differentiated was reported. Diagnosis and surgical treatment represents an efficient alternative at the moment that must be precocius and large due to the frequencies of local recurrences and malignant change. AIM: We present in this stady an observation of an unusual localization of buschke Lowenstein tumor with

Buschke - Lowenstein anal tumor: an ambiguous entity.

The Buschke - Lowenstein tumor is a rare sexually transmitted disease. Its location at the anal margin is also very rare. The most incriminated risk factor is human papillomavirus infection. Its clinical form may be confusing with other tumor and infectious lesions. Histologically, it is characterized by a well-differentiated malpighian proliferation. It represents local aggressive behavior. The treatment of reference remains the surgery with healthy margins of excision. Other treatments have been tested, but their effectiveness remains uncertain. We report here a new case of anal margin Busch

[Buschke-Lowenstein Tumor associated to nasopharyngeal condillomatosis].

Giant Acuminata Condyloma or Buschke-Lowenstein Tumor (BLT) is a rare disease characterized typically by its perineal location, local aggressiveness and its cauliflower-like aspect. BLT is associated with Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection. Because malignant transformation of BLT is high, radical local excision and histopathological examination are needed. We report a 26-year-old male, seropositive for HIV with giant verrucous lesions in the inguinal, perineal, suprapubic and genital area. Rectosismoidoscopy revealed anal canal involvement. Oropharyngeal papillomatosis was also found. Wide …

Penile Buschke-Lowenstein tumor in HCV patient.

Buschke-Löwenstein tumor (BLT), also called giant condyloma acuminatum is a rare clinical manifestation caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), usually type 6 or 11 (90 %). The BLT is described as a tumor with localized aggressiveness, rather slow but destructive and invasive growth of surrounding tissues, benign histology, low metastatic potential, and a high tendency of recurrence. We present the case of a 55-year old non-immunocompetent man, with beige, cauliflower-like papillomae presented on glans penis and coronal sulcus which increased in size for a few weeks. The lesions were surgically

[Anorectal Buschke-Lowenstein tumor. (Three cases report)].

Buschke-Lowenstein tumor or giant condyloma acuminata is characterized by a proliferation locally aggressive with extensive tissue destruction. We report three cases of Buschke-Lowenstein tumor with anorectal localization. The histology is characterized by papillomatosis and endo or exophytic acanthosis secondary to papillomavirus. The variety of treatment regimens applied do not allow formulation of definitive therapeutic guidelines.

[A Buschke and Lowenstein tumor in a female patient].

Although it presents clinically as a malignant formation, the Buschke-Lowenstein tumour is known to be a histologically benign tumour caused by a papillomavirus infection from an condyloma acuminatum. The Buschke-Lowenstein tumour is generally observed in male subjects, usually on the penis, and rarely occurs in women. A female case is reported. In the literature, human papillomavirus 6 is the most common type although types 11, 16 and 18 are also reported. Surgery is the only treatment for this tumour which recurs readily.
