Although pulmonary tuberculosis is common in Turkey, parotid gland tuberculosis is rarely seen. A 39 years old female presented with left side swelling on her face. The diagnosis was made excisional biopsy. Histologic examination of the operative specimen revealed necrotising granuloma concordant with tuberculosis.

This report describes parotid gland tuberculosis in a 38-year-old female patient that presented with a firm, painless, progressively increasing swelling over the right preauricular region. Diagnostic workup including contrast enhanced computerized tomography neck and subsequent fine needle aspiration cytology of the swelling made the final diagnosis. The patient responded favorably with anti-tubercular therapy.

Very few cases of parotid oncocytoma have been reported in literature. Because of its rarity (<1% of salivary gland tumors) and clinical presentation of the tumor, there is a tendency among the clinicians to misdiagnose it as pleomorphic adenoma, hemangioma, or other forms of oncocytosis. In this article, various imaging modalities are discussed for evaluation of parotid disease, from congenital to inflammatory to neoplastic etiologies. Key imaging characteristics are outlined using case examples. Introduction to biological imaging is highlighted. Additionally, image-guided biopsy techniques are illustrated for sampling parotid and parapharyngeal space lesions in a minimally invasive manner.

Parotid gland sarcoidosis occurs in 6% of patients with sarcoidosis. It was bilateral in 24 (73%), slightly commoner in women, and presented in the majority in the 20 to 40 year age group. There was widespread involvement of other systems, particularly intrathoracic, peripheral lymph-adenopathy, uveitis, lacrimal gland enlargement and skin disease. Patterns of involvement may be pathognomonic as in Heerfordt's syndrome. This account provides the differential diagnosis, imaging and biopsy techniques, and treatment.

Parotid gland involvement in tuberculosis is rare. We present a case of middle aged male presenting with parotid swelling for 1 year and diagnosed to have parotid tuberculosis on fine needle aspiration cytology. A brief review of radiological findings in tuberculous parotitis is discussed which can help in correct interpretation and timely diagnosis, and thus avoiding unnecessary parotidectomies.

The body of knowledge of parotid gland diseases has grown owing to advances in imaging and pathologic analysis and molecular technology. A rare case of congenital parotid gland fistula is reported. A 4-year-old boy presented with a fistula opening at the facial surface of the skin posterior to the left commissure of the lips. This fistula originated from an accessory parotid gland with a duct entirely distinct from the original Stensen's duct. Because of the salivary outflow from the fistula opening, the opening was translocated to the oral cavity using Delore's method.
