AIM: To examine corneal hysteresis (CH) and corneal resistance factor (CRF) in normal and ectatic corneas.
METHODS: CH and CRF were measured using the Reichert Ocular Response Analyzer in patients with clinically diagnosed keratoconus (KC), forme fruste KC (FFKC) and normal eyes.
RESULTS: 21 eyes (13 patients) with clinically diagnosed KC and 30 eyes (18 patients) with FFKC were included in the study. Mean CH and CRF in FFKC did not differ from that in pachymetry-matched normal eyes. KC eyes had significantly lower CH and CRF than normal and FFKC eyes.

PURPOSE: To document severe visual symptoms due to the dislocation of an iris-fixated aphakic anterior chamber lens using wavefront aberrometry.
METHODS: A patient complaining of severe visual blur and distortion due to a decentered Artisan iris-fixated anterior chamber lens was evaluated pre- and postoperatively after recentration. This Letter studies the statistics of wavefront aberrations in a sample of eyes with normal vision. Methods relying on the statistics of the measured wavefront slopes are used, not including the aberration estimation stage. Power-law aberration models, an extension of the Kolmogorov one, are rejected by χ2-tests performed on fits to the slope structure function data. This is due to the large weight of defocus and astigmatism variations in normal eyes. Models of only second-order changes are not ruled out. The results are compared with previous works in the area.

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of sustained reading on the temporal changes in the wavefront error in the presbyopic eye. The wavefront aberration of the eyes was measured using an IRX3 Shack-Hartmann aberrometer before and after (immediately, 5 min, and 10 min after) a reading task. PURPOSE: The goal of this study was to compare higher-order aberrations before and after upper lid chalazion excision.
METHODS: Fourteen eyes from 12 patients (8 females, mean age: 28.7 ± 2.7 years) with upper lid chalazion were enrolled in this prospective interventional case series. Chalazia were excised by standard transconjunctival vertical incision. Ocular aberrations were evaluated by aberrometry (ZyWave) before and 2 months after chalazion excision.
