Effect of self-acupressure on middle ear barotrauma associated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy: A nonrandomized clinical trial.

BACKGROUND: In hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), a patient is exposed to pure oxygen in a chamber. While HBOT is a long-standing and well-established treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions, one of the main complications is middle ear barotrauma (MEB), which can lead to complaints of ear discomfort, stuffiness or fullness in the ear, and difficulties in equalizing ear pressure. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of self-acupressure in preventing and reducing the degree of MEB associated with HBOT. METHODS: This is a prospective nonrandomized controlled study. Kinesio Taping vs. Auricular Acupressure for the Personalised Treatment of Primary Dysmenorrhoea: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Dysmenorrhoea is the medical term for menstrual pain. The World Health Organization estimates that up to 81% of women of childbearing age are affected by this condition, and it is one of the leading causes of absenteeism from work and school among women. Although there are pharmacological treatments available for menstrual-pain relief, they do not respond to all women's needs. Therefore, there is a need to study and develop non-pharmacological alternatives to broaden the individualised treatment options for dysmenorrhea. There are scarce studies published on non-pharmacological tre

Does acupressure help reduce nausea and vomiting in palliative care patients? A double blind randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms for patients with advanced cancer. While there is evidence for acupuncture point stimulation for treatment of these symptoms for patients having anticancer treatment, there is little for when they are not related to such treatment. OBJECTIVE: To determine whether acupressure at the pericardium 6 site can help in the treatment of nausea and vomiting suffered by palliative care patients with advanced cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Double blind randomised controlled trial-active versus placebo acupressure wristbands. In-patients with advance

Acupuncture combined with auricular acupressure for dry eye: a SPIRIT-guided protocol for a multicenter randomized controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Dry eye disease (DED) is a chronic disorder of the ocular surface (OS) that is influenced by a variety of factors, resulting in ocular discomfort and visual impairment. Studies have also shown that dry eye syndrome detrimentally impacts patients' sleep quality (SQ), mental well-being, and overall mental health. This SPIRIT- and STRICTA-compliant protocol describes a multicenter, single-blind randomized controlled trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with auricular acupressure compared with 0.1% sodium hyaluronate eye drops in adults with DED.

The effect of digital acupressure on chemotherapy-induced nausea in Indonesian patients with stages III-IV breast cancer.

Patients with breast cancer are reported to experience nausea and vomiting during neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Both remain the most troubling side effects of chemotherapy, even in the era of new antiemetic agents. Hence, our study aims to investigate the clinical outcome of acupressure in the prevention of acute chemotherapy-induced nausea (CIN) by evaluating the frequency and severity of nausea. This study was a randomized controlled trial consisting of 42 breast cancer patients, divided equally into two groups (experimental (acupressure) and control groups). Digital acupressure was performed at
