Premature flowering in Angelica sinensis (Danggui) triggers severe declines in root yield and medicinal quality5 by reducing bioactive ferulic acid and promoting lignification. Ferulate 5-hydroxylase (F5H), a cytochrome P450 enzyme, drives metabolic flux toward lignin biosynthesis, but its regulatory network and functional dynamics during early flowering remain unresolved. Transcriptomic and functional analyses identified AsF5H (As09G05225) as a key gene upregulated in early-flowering plants, correlating with root lignin accumulation and ferulic acid depletion. Phylogenetic studies confirmed F

BACKGROUND: Plant life is extremely diverse, with a great deal of geographic and seasonal variation. Consequently, the range of reported adverse reactions is large, and there are important differences worldwide in the incidence and prevalence of these reactions. Systemic ingestion of some plants containing furocoumarins can cause erythema, edema, vesicle and bulla formation and later hyperpigmentation, after exposure to sunlight. They may at times exhibit clinical manifestations that mimic angioedema, and rarely progress to necrosis. This condition is named phyto-phototoxic reaction.

Endoparasitism is a highly specialized form of symbiosis, prominently manifested among phytophagous eriophyoid mites in the genus Novophytoptus Roivainen 1947. These mites have been traditionally thought to be restricted to the subepidermal lacunae of herbaceous monocots of the order Poales, which they penetrate to feed and reproduce. Based on surveys in Chile, two new species of Novophytoptus are described: N. cyperin. sp. from Cyperus eragrostis (Cyperaceae) and N. eryngiin. sp. from Eryngium paniculatum (Apiaceae), with the latter representing the first record of Novophytoptus from a eudico

Cross-reactions between food allergens and other allergens are a major focus of interest. They include cross-allergies between Betulaceae and Compositae pollen, and also between fruits and vegetables (Prunoideae and Apiaceae). Cross-allergies between animal allergens include mites, cockroaches and crustaceans, milk and meat, animal epithelia, meat and egg. Cross-reactivity results from homology between protein sequences, and is highly likely when this homology reaches about 70%. Phylogenetically similar proteins occur in all species and are known as pan allergens. Profilins, Bet v1 homologues,
