PURPOSE: To report the beneficial properties of argon laser as an adjunctive therapy in 2 patients with refractory fungal keratitis.
METHODS: Case reports and a review of the literature. Two cases of Fusarium keratitis refractory to topical and systemic antifungals were further treated with argon laser. Radiation colitis is a common consequence of pelvic radiation. Its complications may include anemia due to chronic bleeding requiring transfusions. Many of these patients are managed with rectal medications which are often inadequate for control. PURPOSE: To evaluate the effectiveness of argon laser photocoagulation for the treatment of trachomatous trichiasis.
METHODS: This report presents a prospective, non-masked study of 22 patients (36 eyelids) with trachomatous trichiasis treated with the argon laser. Each abnormal lash was treated with a beam of 50- to 200-micron spot size, for 0.2 seconds, and 1 to 1.2 watts power. In 30 lids (83.3%) infiltration anesthesia was used and in 6 lids (16.7%) no anesthesia was used.
RESULTS: Successful treatment with no evidence of recurrence was achieved in 55.5% of lids after one laser session.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: This study evaluated the efficacy of argon laser trabeculoplasty (ALT) in patients with aphakia or pseudophakia.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The authors retrospectively analyzed 63 eyes of 63 patients with aphakia or pseudophakia who had uncontrolled open-angle glaucoma and were treated with 180 degrees or 360 degrees ALT.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the effectiveness of conjunctival cyst removal using a modified method of argon laser photoablation.
METHODS: Seventeen cases of symptomatic conjunctival cysts were included. After staining the surface of a conjunctival cyst with a dark purple marker, the cyst was incised using a 26-gauge needle. Low-energy argon laser photoablation was then applied around the incision site for a mean of 100 times.

PURPOSE: To assess the visual, refractive, ocular structural, and neurodevelopmental outcome in a group of children who were screened, treated with laser photocoagulation for threshold retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and followed up at our institution.
METHODS: The 21 survivors of a cohort of 23 children were recalled at the age of 5 years or more. They underwent a full ophthalmologic examination. A paediatric neurologist and/or developmental paediatrician performed a neurodevelopmental assessment and a neuropsychologist performed psychological testing.
