Child neglect is considered the most common form of child maltreatment with severe implications for children's development. The Psychiatric Consultation Service at Massachusetts General Hospital sees medical and surgical inpatients with comorbid psychiatric symptoms and conditions. During their twice-weekly rounds, Dr Stern and other members of the Consultation Service discuss diagnosis and management of hospitalized patients with complex medical or surgical problems who also demonstrate psychiatric symptoms or conditions. These discussions have given rise to rounds reports that will prove useful for clinicians practicing at the interface of medicine and psychiatry.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether less informal child care support from family and friends is related to supervisory neglect and, if there is a relationship, to test several explanations for why some mothers receive less child care. BACKGROUND: For a variety of reasons, raising a child with 22q11.2DS has significant psychosocial and financial repercussions for the family caregivers. Our aim was to identify and explain the expectations and concerns of Polish parents of 22q11.2DS children. An online survey was developed consisting of four sections: demographics, emotions experienced by caregivers while performing their duties, attitudes of the respondents about providing care, and finally different aspects of the caregivers' life satisfaction.
